LDS and Caucasian Americans

Now I’m sad. I guess I don’t glow. This is depressing. I don’t glow. Dang it. How do I get that glow anyway? Is it marriage? Is that it? That’s it isn’t it? I have to get married! That’s it! I have to be married! I’ll join five online dating sites like I did last year and drive myself crazy trying to find a wife just to please the LDS God. 🙂

That’s a persistent belief that Mormons have about themselves. It goes along with their beliefs that they are “special” and that they are inherently better than non-Mormons because they were either righteous enough in the pre-existence to be born into a white LDS family, or were “special” enough to recognize “the truth” when they heard it from the missionaries. They really believe that they have an aura of specialness around them.

I remember several years ago a young LDS man at work told me that he was LDS. I answered, “yes, you have the look”. He blushed deeply and whispered “thank you”.

He thought I was complementing him. I was not. The look is I mentioned is that glassy-eyed, “uncomfortable in the real world” look. Also the “fine Scandanavian stock inbred for seven generations” look. 😉
 
I was just reading the Utah Lighthouse Ministry site and an online book - The Changing World of Mormonism. What I read about Mary is disgusting. I didn’t know it was taught so forcefully that God had s*x with Mary. I find that disgusting. Are modern Mormons taught that still or is that hushed up? Do true blue mormons believe that? Have they ever committed on that belief as in saying - Uh, we don’t believe that anymore!

I don’t recall hearing it during the two plus years I’ve been going. But I did buy a study guide to the Four Gospels written by an LDS professor. It’s not official church material but the author of the study guide is LDS. Anyway, I remember reading the part about Mary and he made the point how “God” personally came down to Mary. When I read that a few years ago I wasn’t for sure what exactly he was getting at. Now I know.
 
But I am wondering - have any of the current leaders been asked - Did God have s*x with Mary? I wonder what their answers would be. Would they answer like they do when asked if they will become Gods, they seem to dance around the question without answering.
 
Speaking of glowing, I know one LDS girl who does not “glow.” I met her on an LDS dating site and drove four hours one way to take her out. She was extremely depressed. She hardly smiled at all on our date. It was crazy. She lived with her grand mom who was one of the biggest Avon dealers in the city because she sold to the girls at strip clubs! I asked this girl why she was so depressed and she said -"… because I’m not married." Yep, that’s the LDS church for you.

I drove home (another four hours) and the next day she sent me an email comparing with another guy she’s been going out with! lol. If I remember right that got me really depressed when she did that. The other guy was not as advanced in the church as I was but he was ahead in other things, she said. I don’t know exactly what she meant, maybe better looking? Tougher? Motorcycle?

It’s sad the marriage pressure the church puts on girls.

Is that like the “Innsmouth look?”

Yes, many Mormons have that confidence cum arrogance that goes along being what they believe are the chosen ones, the only ones who have the ability to save the rest of mankind–only not for the better. Most missionaries don’t have it, though, because they’re too young, too inexperienced, too naive.

Those who do are usually returned missionaries with a few years under their belts and a newly received call to this or that position and the newfound sense of…entitlement (?) that comes with it.

I find that those are the most charismatic and therefore deceptive of the bunch, radiating not Christian love, but love for their church and for their self-importance. They are the true believers, the most dangerous weapons the church has in its arsonal, willing to die for the cause.

“Lesser” people have always been permitted to join the church, but must bear the most restrictive access to it. Blacks, as we’ve already seen, have selectively been able to hold the priesthood prior to 1978. On the other side of the ‘revelation,’ the church has finally come to terms with the fact that no matter what color a member’s skin is, their money is always green.
 
This thread has turned into nothing more than mean-spirited Mormon bashing. It’s beneath all of us Catholics to treat people of other faiths with such disrespect. It also seems to me that the entire purpose of this thread was to do nothing but make fun of Mormonism. It needs to be closed. Shame on us.

When you’re dealing with a subject so heavy as people believing in a false gospel and thus risking their very souls, it takes a toll. To release pressure, sometimes we have a little fun with it. Besides, there are so many absurd parts of Mormonism that you can’t help but laugh, such as lots of ancient Jews living in the New World, all of which died without leaving a single trace of themselves. Or how about the Mormon Jesus being a product of celestial incest? Do the missionaries ever tell you that? I doubt it.

What we’re dealing with is a group that’s brainwashed into thinking that they will become gods like God. If that doesn’t deserve to dealt with, I don’t know what does.

What’s more absurd than eating God? Catholicism looks silly if you don’t really understand the doctrine. Mormonism makes perfect sense if you come at it with a desire to believe in it. I’m ex-Mormon so I know their doctrine inside out. My point remains. It’s un-Christian to make fun of and/or bash another person’s faith. We take offense to it when done to us because when someone says something cruel or crass about something we hold dear it really hurts. We owe all faiths the same respect we want them to show ours. You’re Christians…act like it.

I have problems with parts of Catholicism like most Catholics I know but when a missionary comes to my door, wanting me to pray over the book that tells me the Bible is missing many ‘plain and precious things,’ and that I belong to the abominable church founded by Satan, I have a problem with that, too. Likewise, I was taught that everyone who died without being Catholic went straight to Hell, no exceptions.

Joseph Smith started this and I’m simply picking up the gauntlet. That said, I haven’t been cruel or crass; I’ve simply put the facts up and parried each and every position they take that would make them appear to be Christian when they clearly are not. Most Mormons can’t answer the charges against them in a way that makes sense which is the reason that so few respond. But I know they’re reading…

Neither I nor anyone else here has made any personal attacks that I’m aware of; I’ve even been known to defend them as people when things get too harsh, but that hasn’t been the case here.

I also think you meant to say that Mormonism makes perfect sense if someone doesn’t know how the church’s history or how the doctrines evolved.

I suppose making me dictator of the world makes perfect sense if you have a
desire to believe I should be dictator. 🙂

But the problem is when you use real common sense the LDS church does not make
decent Christian sense.
