The trinity is one of the essentials. In this there must be unity.

The really important thing about this change is that it shows that the current LDS leadership admits that all the Mormon prophets were WRONG!Just another piece of evidence against the Mormons. Hebrews never came to America and why the Mormons insist that they did, I don’t know.
Now if the current Mormon leadership is saying there were other people in the Americas who interbred with the Lamanites and that Lehi’s descendants were just one of many populations inhabiting the ancient Americas, then they are admitting that the Book of Mormon is wrong and that Joseph Smith and all of the LDS prophets were wrong.8 And behold, it is wisdom that this land should be kept as yet from the knowledge of other nations; for behold, many nations would overrun the land, that there would be no place for an inheritance.(2 Nephi 1:8)
Exactly. The only geography that works is a GreatLakes geography, and that points directly to the Viking invasion. This is the reason why they try to make a Meso-American geography fit, because anyone who knows history knows what the great majority of the Vikings were like. Great Lakes only does a little bit less violence than Meso-American to the text, which, in general, is as racist as Viking and Nazi ideologies (ideology). It is hard for me to understand how a person who seriously has looked into it can come away believing in the Book of Mormon. I don’t care what kind of supposed spiritual experiences they might claim, in the end the book just can’t stand scrutiny:

Pro Book of Mormon “scholars” compound the problem when they try to force it into a Central American geography. It just simply doesn’t work.
My great-great grandmother was 100% Cherokee, and based on what I know of Alabama/American History, I may have more Cherokee in me than that. My point is that I do not define myself as being Cherokee. At some point, we must see that the dilution of ancestors makes us less like them and more unique.Ralphinal, you may carry more Cherokee cultural heritage with you than you think. I am working on a theory that “the best of the Book of Mormon” was compiled by Buck Watie, the Cherokee editor of the “Cherokee Phoenix” (His white name was Elias Boudinot).
Wow. Until I read this post I didnt see what the big deal was.And yet Joseph taught that the Nephites and Lamanites were Hebrews; the Book of Mormon states plainly that there were no other people or cultures in the Americas when the people of Lehi arrived. The Americas had been preserved from other people so that it would be a land set apart for the people of God.8 And behold, it is wisdom that this land should be kept as yet from the knowledge of other nations; for behold, many nations would overrun the land, that there would be no place for an inheritance. (2 Nephi 1:8)

So much for modern prophets.

Then you didn’t read it carefully enough. You need to learn to read things more carefully before jumping to conclusions. The above verse was spoken by Lehi, after he had only just arrived in the land of promise. And this is what it is saying:Wow. Until I read this post I didnt see what the big deal was.
This post is very important because as far as I can tell it reveals the true issue. After thousands of years, all were destroyed except the Lamanites,
and they are the principal ancestors of the American Indians."
and they are among the ancestors of the American Indians.
This clearly CHANGES them FROM the main (if not exclusive) ancestry TO one among many…and that goes directly against the notion this land was set apart as the verse PD quoted above.
I see what you are saying but that if you take a look at:Then you didn’t read it carefully enough. You need to learn to read things more carefully before jumping to conclusions. The above verse was spoken by Lehi, after he had only just arrived in the land of promise. And this is what it is saying:
“And behold, it is wisdom that this land should be kept as yet from the knowledge of other nations; for behold, many nations would overrun the land, that there would be no place for an inheritance” (2 Nephi 1:8).“As yet” means for the time being, and for a limited period after it. It does not mean a thousand or two thousand years after it. Neither does it exclude immigration of a very limited kind, such as a few Viking ship finding their way into America, as they are reputed to have done. It means large scale immigration, such as took place after the discovery of America by Columbus.

PS. Lehi and family immigrated to America in 600 BC. The Nephites became extinct in wars with the Lamanites in 400 AD. That still leaves 1600 years for further immigration to take place into America since then to be mixed with Lamanite blood.
Either way you are talking a great load of nonsense (as usual), and you know it, and so does everyone else.Either way, the result is the same. The LDS leadership has been misleading their people for 170 years.

From what others have posted, Zerinus, it seems you are the odd man out.zerinus
Or are you speaking of those who work the “Catholic Answers Forum” shift with you??

The trouble with this is the mtDNA shows that Native Americans from Siberia were here 13,000 years ago. That’s well before the supposed arrival of Lehi and well before the supposed arrival of the Jaredites. So the land wasn’t preserved at all. Then you didn’t read it carefully enough. Ever hear of exaggeration that occurs in legend, and stories told for the message? The parallels in literature are impressive.Neither does it exclude immigration of a very limited kind, such as a few Viking ship finding their way into America, as they are reputed to have done. The point is that DNA evidence very clearly proves that the Amerindians migrated to the Americas from Mongolia around 10,000 years ago, near the end of the last ice age. So we know that by 600 BC there was a large and diverse Amerindian population all over North, Central and South America. These populations can be tracked and aged very accurately with mitochondrial DNA.Then you didn’t read it carefully enough. Joseph Smith and his co-conspirators did not know this. So they produced a “scripture” which claimed that there were no other people in the Americas when the people of Lehi arrived in 600 BC. The original intro to the BofM reflects this claim.
They were wrong. The Book of Mormon is a fraud. The LDS Church now has been forced into a position where they must begin to admit the fraud. This change to the introduction is the first measured step in that admission.
