**Lets study the Scriptures in Historical context with our LDS guest. If you as a Mormon have some Scripture from your King James through it out here. **

**I was told by one (LDS) on this board that the historical context of the Bible is not important. I would like to start this tread by saying that the Historical context of the Bible is very important if you want to understand Christianity in it’s fullest meaning. For instance, how important would it be to understand the Jewish Passover as it’s relevance to Christ and the Mass? **

I would like to start with these Scriptures
God Bless

Reading I
Is 40:1-5,

Comfort, give comfort to my people,
says your God.
Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and proclaim to her
that her service is at an end,
her guilt is expiated;
indeed, she has received from the hand of the LORD
double for all her sins.

What does ” she has received from the hand of the LORD
double for all her sins, mean to you as a Mormon?

Do you know where this prophecy was fulfilled?

What do you know about this popular Scripture that is used by your faith to convert? It was used on me 6 years ago. Why is it important to understand it’s historical context?

Malachi
Chapter 3: 22-24

22

Remember the law of Moses my servant, which I enjoined him on Horeb, The statutes and ordinances for all Israel.

23

Lo, I will send you Elijah, the prophet, Before the day of the LORD comes, the great and terrible day,

24

To turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers, Lest I come and strike the land with doom. Lo, I will send you Elijah, the prophet, Before the day of the LORD comes, the great and terrible day.
