LDS just tried to witness to me

So happy Easter to me ! Two LDS caught my eye and moments later they started witnessing. They asked me how do you experience God - and I said through the real presence in the Eucharist and told them about my experience with the Holy Spirit and how I converted last year. I hope that was enough! Any plans this weekend ? Me: ‘Going to mass’. They still gave me a little card with Jesus on it and a number to call. Was a bit insulted by that. Anything more I could I have done to witness back?
 
I read in a non-fiction book about an area that had lots of Baptists and some young LDS guys were sent on mission there. They would knock on Baptists’ doors and the Baptists would answer and say “Not interested!” And then invite the young missionaries to have dinner with them. I always liked that.

Seriously, a firm “No thanks, I have Jesus and that’s all I need” and leave it at that should be enough.

That’s a nice card, I’d keep it for the picture.
The rebranding as “Church of Jesus Christ” is a hoot though.
More like the Church of Joseph Smith and Brigham Young.
 
Was so tempted to post the number so everyone could witness to them but I will be good 🙂
 
Don’t feel insulted, they are doing what they think is right. 🙂 You were respectful and open to talking about your own faith and I think that’s the best way to witness in such a short time.
Something similar happened to me. I was walking home and two young LDS men stopped me to say “Hello… Have you heard about Jesus Christ?” I said I had and was Catholic, and briefly said something about what I believed about Jesus. We chatted and at the end they asked me if I wanted an image of Jesus. I took it and that was that. They were friendly and much less “pushy” than I expected. Maybe we should start carrying around prayer cards to give out too? 😃

They used to stop by my house occasionally, along with the JW’s. Once I put out a St. Francis statue they stopped.

Just being friendly is a good witness.

I’ve heard it’s best, if they come to your home, to offer them a drink and to ask them lots of questions to really get them to think critically. For instance “Jesus promised as recorded the Gospel of Matthew that the gates of Hell would NEVER prevail against the Church He established on St. Peter, so why would His Church ever have needed to have been re-established by Joseph Smith over 1,800 years later?Does that really make sense to you?” There’s probably a better way to ask, but this question just came to me.
 
I think you did fine.

Sometimes a low key approach is better.

Who knows you may have planted a seed. Pray for it to grow.
 
We need some cards handy we can give to them, too. And the JWs. Collect them all!

I like the idea of cards. As usual they were beautiful respectful young folk who clearly believe what they were doing. But I knew when they clocked me I thought at first oh maaaan and then thought well at least they are talking to me and not someone who might get swayed by them
 
Jesus looks like Matthew mcconaughey in this picture I think . ‘All right all right all right’ .
 
Although I wouldn’t be interested, I don’t think I"d be insulted either. They are doing what they believe is right, and usually a smile and polite "no thank you I’m Catholic’ ends the conversation before it can even start.
 
I don’t mind them witnessing but I was insulted by the insinuation that I still needed Jesus in my life despite what I’d just said. They gave me the card right at the end
 
Some people will say that about anyone waving a big hammer about! :crazy_face::roll_eyes:😜

Last time I was being pesticides, I had my Remuda, my Weed-be-gone, and such in the cart, but couldn’t find “Proddy be gone!” for the life of me 🤣😜:roll_eyes: [however, I can set off my sprinklers with my cellphone with my new custom system . . .]

Years ago, I had a couple of JW’s on my doorstep, who were baffled when I wouldn’t commit to either Biblical literalism or “just a story.” They had apparently never considered the possibility of anything in between . . .

So I asked which account of Creation I was supposed to take literally–and they denied that there were two accounts.

I pointed out that the seven days and Adam and Eve were separate, and they were willing to take that as books 1 and 2, but said that they were both literal.

But things don’t happen in the same order, so which should I take literally. “Yes they do.”

At which point I gave up and sent them on their way . . .
 
I would just say “No thank you I already have Jesus.” It’s good you stayed respectful and didn’t call them heretics.
