BJ Colbert:
It is very difficult to for me to understand praying to anyone but God. That is just because I am not used to it, for Catholics it is perfectly normal and something you are taught from childhood. I understand that the prayers to Mary and the saints are to God through asking them to pray for you. That is the part that is difficult for me to understand. I have never asked someone who has died to pray for me. I have asked friends to pray for me, and I understand it is kind of like that, but still it is different. My mind just does not comprehend it completely. I guess that is one reason I am not Catholic.

Hey, that’s easy. It’s just like when you’re a kid and sick and the doctor comes to give medicine. He’s like the guy in charge and then all your brothers, sisters and mother bring you chicken soup, and aspirin, and rub your head. The doctor does the diagnosis and the treatment and the others just help him a long with you or help you do the treatment. That’s how I see God and the saints and Mary. I think you are not Catholic cause you make everything really, really complicated. I’ve been reading your posts and all this is kind of a chore for you or something. Chill out and just like God, really.

I think the only thing that would convert me to Catholicism is if you had the Preisthood.
Not only does the Catholic Church have the Priesthood, but it has THE Priesthood! Amen!

No not assuming, LDS religion believes you don’t. Just what I believe, not to be offensive but that is something we believe.
I know, I was giving you a bad time. And as a Catholic, I believe the exact opposite.

Jesus said to eat his body and drink his blood…literally.

IMO that right there would be THE reason for people to need to be Catholic.

That is disgusting… What scripture and does it really say literally?

The teaching comes from John 6:25-71. “Jesus said to them, ‘Truly, truly I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the son of man and drink His blood you have no life in you. He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life and I will raise him up at the last day, for my flesh is food indeed and my blood is drink indeed. He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me and I in him.’”

Jesus isn’t talking figuratively here, otherwise he wouldn’t repeat the teaching 8 times in John 6.

I can’t convince my wife about this either and her response sounds like yours. But it is scripture based.
