We’ve had a few people claiming to be both Catholic and Mormon, simultaneously, here.

FAIR is sophistry at its finest.
Well, I’ve never heard that one before. Sets my head spinning. How can you be Mormon and Catholic at the same time? There are just some things that are irreconcilable. unless of course you mean a Catholic but from a Mormon upbringing or family.

It was more like a social outing without the fun.

and the conversion story consisted more of her drunk father and how happy she was about the word of wisdom and how much she liked the missionaries. Didn’t mention Christ.
I’m sorry, but that is just plain sad.

The one thing I love about the Mass is that it is all about worship.

Except for the announcements, and even most of those have something do do with Christ.

Doesn’t it seem like in the LDS sect, every 2nd or 3rd talk is about the importance of tithing?

It certainly was true when I was LDS. I got to thinking that all they really cared about was getting my money.
Tithing and Home teaching are the 2 big things that are talked about almost every single sunday.

Just got home from church and was a very typical Sunday.

Priesthood consisted of events and parties that were being held throughout the week. Also a big emphasis on home teaching. followed by a 20 minute lesson on tithing.

sunday school consisted of a 35 minute lesson about the school of the prophets and what was being taught there and how inspired they were.

Sacrament meeting consisted of ward business, stake business, the sacrament, and some talks. Talk topics included, conversion story, preparing for eternal marriage and joseph smith.

The only time i heard Christ’s name was in a prayer. Like i’ve said in previous posts, the LDS church is becoming more and more dependant on Joseph Smith and less dependant on Jesus Christ. It’s very subtle but some of us notice that Joseph Smith is talked about more than Jesus Christ. Why is that?
You didn’t attend anything on the historic announcement on missionary work today?

Whats sad is the amount of people that go to church and want to worship Christ but can’t because of all the “background noise” caused in the LDS church. And i’m not talking about actually noise, i’m talking about things that are not related to Christ.

I think you hit the nail on the head with a really big hammer.

Catholics broadcast Mass over the internet, EWTN, radio, for all to see and hear, but as I understand it, there is no filming etc. even in the local facility.

That is not only sad for the shut ins, but the world would see what really goes on.

All four of our weekend Masses are streamed over the internet, plus daily Masses, weddings, and funerals.

Nothing to hide here.

^their reasoning is that God is supposed to be present in the chapel, and you can’t film God.

As a Catholic, I have discovered that the LDS sacrament is such a sad imitation of what Christ meant for it to be. When they have bigger meetings like general conference or stake conference, they just skip it. No biggie, it’s not like it’s the life-blood of Christianity or anything.

I agree. After being Catholic, the LDS sac meeting seems like a board meeting in a very sterile surrounding…and the use of bread and water is downright offensive

Especially offensive is the thought they can buy a loaf of “bread” on sale. Jesus is not, and should not be on a clearance shelf.

yes.

it is a very business-like meeting.

like a board meeting, business take care of first, followed by the refreshments (bread and water) followed by speakers who give talks on pre-assigned topics…just like a board meeting.

I have attended a few Sac Meetings in the last couple of years and, after attending Mass, the Sac Meetings just can’t hold a candle to them (pun intended)
