I originally was looking at the one in Brampton/Toronto Ontario but I think these Temples are very attractive. Of course, many Catholic and other Christian Churches are often quite lovely to the eye as well.

Maybe someone can explain what does say “45th operating Temple” mean?

It must be the time line as it shows Toronto and San Diego were both announced close to the same time.

“45th Operating Temple” means that it was the 45th temple to be dedicated and has been in continual operation since. Technically speaking the 1st LDS Temple was Kirtland, Ohio, but since this temple is owned by the RLDS rather than the LDS Church it isn’t counted among any of the temples. The 2nd LDS Temple was the Nauvoo Temple which was set on fire and abandoned, not to be rebuilt until 2002, and as such is called the 113th Operating Temple.

Thanks so much for the answer.

The one in Sweden is quite a sight too.

You are absolutely right, this section says “Non-Catholic Religions”, so you are saying it should be posted under “Catholic Religions”??

If you go to the ma(name removed by moderator)age, Masons or as you might say masons, Protestants or maybe you’d say protestants and LDS are forums.catholic-questions.org/forumdisplay.php?f=14
all mentioned: Islam is also mentioned. On the next page, Anglican is mentioned. i recommend you take your complaint to all of these threads instead of singling this one

So, this stuff gets posted here. How is your reading comprehension? Just wondering?? Are you calling Mormons Catholics?? Just wandering?

I have been to many temples. Back when I was LDS, I went to as many as I could. They are very beautiful and peaceful.

In the end, the way a Church looks is cosmetic, sometimes, it might heighten the spiritual or sometimes it’s all down to the people. Or there might be a church that looks very ordinary from the outside but inside it is beautiful. There are various aspects to this.

I agree and not being disrespectfull I think a lot of Mormon temples, especially the celestial rooms with the lack of iconography ressemble the lobbies of high end hotels,or undertaking parlors.

I am not saying that what they represent is true, but, they are very beautiful. And Mormons act in temples like we act in regular parishes. It is very quiet and peaceful…it is very reverent.

Their wards are not like that…but their temples are.

To be honest in that I grew up in a state with a relatively high Mormon population and I’ve found them to be good people, I had never really seen one of their Temples. I’ve been to a Buddhist Temple, I have seen a Hindu and Sikh temple in the US. It’s just kind of interesting to me, not that I entertain notions of changing religions. I do find it interesting and their buildings do seem inspired.

In downtown Minneapolis at Christmas time, they have a Tour of the Churches, Basilica, a Presbyterian or Episcopalian Church, some others. I find it fascinating.

Buildings move me, the first time I saw the Basilica of St. Mary’s downtown Minneapolis (www.mary.org) I honestly fell to my knees and prayed, it really moved me.

how come there is not a cross on mormon temples?

I believe it has to do with Jesus dying on the cross and they dont like it. That we (Christians) shouldnt glorify the cross but only the Lords works. Well the Passion is part of His works and should be there for all to see. But believe me, alot of mormons wear a plain cross but not a Crucifix. On a side note, my children have had a very hard time here in Utah because of their Crucifix. They have had lds kids rip them from their necks. Very sad indeed 😦

I have met Protestants who see the Crucifix as I suppose going to far, having the Cross is okay to them.

Of course, 1 Corinthians, 1:23, Paul tells us “We preach Christ crucified…” what else can the Bible mean? No, a lot of Protestants it seems just want us to be reminded of an empty cross and that Christ has risen. This is a part of the story only.

It means the 45th temple operating since the Church of Jesus Christ was restored.
