Hi all, I’m a little embarrassed about posting help for this problem, but I’m hoping your prayers will enable me to fight this problem.

I am happily married and I have now found myself strangely attracted to another man I work with. I won’t be working here long as we are moving in a few months (so that’s a good thing).

The guy is very sweet and handsome, but I don’t want to be attracted to him. I find myself thinking about him when I’m not at work or looking forward to seeing him as I go in.

I can’t quit my job right now, I just have to deal with this. I am asking for prayers because I don’t want this to get out-of-hand and this isn’t fair to my husband at all.

Thank you.

Krista, I don’t intend to be critical, so please don’t feel offended by my comment, but have you given any thought to how unfair it is on the man you work with? Doesn’t he have the right to work freely in an environment and not be the object of another person’s desire?

Finding someone else attractive is natural for everyone. But when someone begins entertaining desire for that person, where it might not be welcomed, especially if the person is married, it starts to become dangerous. Consider that it isn’t just that person, but that person’s spouse, their children, your husband and your children who are affected. It has further reaching affect than you might think.

Respect the fact that you are married, for life, and part of that commitment is not to entertain desires for another.

The move is going to be stressful. I would suggest that you be more loving to your husband. Suggest that both of you need to work out any issues in your relationship before they happen. Put some romance into your lives.

You thought that because you are moving, you could afford to cast stray eyes at this other man. You can control your thoughts and feelings at this point, so nip it in the bud.

What if your husband were the writer of this post:

“I am happily married and I have now found myself strangely attracted to another woman I work with.”

I would assume you’ve been to your confessor. In your prayers meditate on Jesus’ sacrifice for us. And how this is offending Him.

Jesus, our Lords peace be whit You.
You sure got a problem, but who created it? What wos the thing that made like him moore then You should, did You do something,or he? I will tell You a story,a long time ago I wos “in love” but not “loving” a woman from work, and it went the way it should not,my marriage wos over allready before we said “I do” but we kept on for ten years, and I got no affection,no tender kiss, nothing, from my x-wife. And that wos why I did this big sin,and I knew it wos wrong, but I could not help myself, here wos a chance to get a bit of love from another human, and she wos nice as well. Why do I tell You this? (And a few hundred thousand other catholics I think) I told You it so that You want do the mistake I did. Of course my x-wife found out what I wos up to,and then she started to give me moore love then I could live with, but not for long, less then a year later we divorced and as a catholic I cant marrie again, and I don’t want to. I am happy whit my life, the kids are adoult and I am retired due to panic-atacks and depression, and live whit my beloved dog. And You wonder “why is he telling me this aswell?” I once again get a reason, when you divorce, you loose,no matter who is to blame, but you loose, friends, things you love, your world will be destroyed in a day. So please stop before You cross the point of no return. You maybe even feel “in love” whit this man,but You don’t LOVE him,two different things,so stop, and even in the worst way,as I can see it,You might end up destroying TWO marriages, his and Yours. Confess Your sin,and love Your husband, don’t hurt him,and think forward, not one week or month, but years,You might not be so lucky as I wos, because I wanted a divorce, and this life is the best for my,but You maybe not end up as lucky as I. And then there is children I guess? And what moore should You do? Look at this man and try to see as many stupid things in him as You can, figure him ten years from now, fat, bald, and maybe have a drinking problem. You see,we all change, and the past will stay for ever as it wos,but the future is still to be made, make Your future a good one,and include the man You loved enough to marrie in the future, whit You,all the way to the end. I did not ansver Your question for a reason,I want You to ansver it by my story,my life,by reading the Bible, and confessing, and by Your heart, the one where Your husband has a big place,if he did not,You would never have asked this question. Blessings,Totterman

Krista,

I shall pray for you!

Was it Oscar Wilde who said ‘I can resist everything but temptation’?
Joyce Meyer warned ‘Where the mind goes the man follows!’

I wouldn’t worry too much but try to avoid contact with him other than what is necessary for your work duties.

God bless you

Graham

now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

Praying for you to keep away from this man at all costs because it could destroy your marriage …
