As some of you may have noticed, I tend to vary my devotions from week to week, to avoid monotony. This helps me to keep my devotions fresh. It also enables me to use a wide range of devotions.
This week, I am once again doing the LITTLE OFFICE OF THE BVM. I use the 1988 edition published by Catholic Book Publishing Co.
This version has seven sets of morning and evening prayers, one for each day of the week. But it has only one set of Daytime Prayers, Office of Readings, and Compline.
So today, Sunday, is the day I read the daytime Prayers, and Office of Readins, and Compline, in addition to morning and evening prayer. The Office of Readings includes the TE DEUM, always worth chanting out loud.
Monday through Friday will be Morning and Evening Prayer only.
Saturday is the big day, and the reason I am returning to the Little Office for just one week. Candlemas Day. In addition to the usual prayers, I will also recite the THANKSGIVING FOR MARY’S FIAT, which is in the back of the book.
I will be doing other Marian devotions during the week, of course, This seems to be a good week for it. And Candlemas is also the first Saturday of the month. How about that?
