Remind your co-religionists of that next time someone prints cartoons of Muhammad!

It also needs to be pointed out that there is indeed praiseworthy anger, as known from the examples of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). He never got angry except when the commandments of Allah are violated. However, if we want to get angry for the sake of Allah, then we need to be careful that we:
are really not getting angry for ourselves or for our own interests.
need to do it in the right way, like not committing wrong actions or saying vulgar words while getting angry.
can achieve the benefit as intended by the shari’ah. If the action leads to more harm than benefit, then it should be avoided based on the principle of weighing between the benefits and harms.

Pact of Umar

Just one of the fantastic models of Islamic Shari’a in a pluralistic society.

As the site notes: This was similar to the treatment non-Christians recieved in Europe, but there is one exception: The treatment of Non-Christians in Europe wasn’t part of dogma, supported by scripture.

Non-Muslims have lived safely and peacefully in Muslims lands ever since the time of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and they have freely practiced their faith to this day.
First of all, what i think of this quote:
:rotfl:
Secondly, you name ONE, and i mean ONE Muslim country where a Christian has not been murdered for their beliefs!
Why are people practically beheaded if they even mention the bible in Saudi? if this is peace, what do you call war?
The Coptic Christians in Egypt and various other non-Muslim communities in many other Muslim countries is proof of this.
Ok then, why did this just happen YESTERDAY???
here
and
why did this happen???:

Peace for Christians in Egypt hey? What planet are you living on Ham??
There may have been isolated cases of intolerance by Muslims at various instances in history but these are mere exceptions and certainly not the rule.
Rubbish, it is the rules from the quran directly
sura 8:12
I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them.
If you wish to know what the true position of Islam is on non-Muslim communities in Muslim lands, then you need to examine how the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and his companions treated the non-Muslim population during the early years of Islam.
Oh there has been plenty of information posted on these forums alone to show what the REAL islam is and what it means for non muslims.
Ham, get your head out of the sand and face the truth of your religion.

Hadith # 16

Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleases with him, reported that a man said to the Prophet, peace be upon him:

"Advise me! "The Prophet said, “Do not become angry and furious.” The man asked (the same) again and again, and the Prophet said in each case, "Do not become angry and furious."

[Al-Bukhari; Vol. 8 No. 137]
Oh this is funny, now i know where the Muslims get their ideas from for avoiding and changing subjects, or just dont answer at all.
Basically, your prophet doesnt answer questions, and you follow suit…

Not that I think the date matters at all (Copts are being kidnapped, murdered, raped, and beaten right now, too), but it states in the link that the story was published on February 26, 1996 (in little grey letters underneath the headline). I think you may have confused the date underneath the NYT logo in the top left of the screen with the date that the article was published.

We also don’t practice that anymore while in islam it is very much alive. The difference being that many dhimmi do not live in peace.

There are many articles here:
faithfreedom.org/Articles.htm#humanrights

here is a basic definition of it:
jihadwatch.org/dhimmiwatch/why-dhimmi.htm

With the trend of radicalization around the globe, the dhimmi populations are dwindling due to them fleeing, being killed and forced to convert, some get kidnapped and are forced to marry and convert, etc.

**Hello,

I read what the magazine stated. Is so amazing how ignorant people are about Islam and the Islamic guidelines that Muslims SHOULD follow.

Not everyone who professes to be a Muslim, is upon the correct way of a Muslim. Just saying one is, does not represent Islam.

It all boils down to ignorance. People just don’t want to learn and I am totally aware of them being the way they are out of hatred and arrogance…the one thing that Satan was cast out for. It is too hard to ask for themselves.

There are reasons and laws and Islam is a complete way of life and living. God’s laws override any man-made laws but we are to abide as best we can amongst those who do not believe. You want us to be the way you are, live the way you are, think the way you think, eat the way you eat, love the way you love, hate the way you hate, thirst the way you thirst, etc. etc. etc.(sounds like a dictatorship rather than freedom), but you totally leave God out of the equation as if He, the one that made you and me and the creator of the universe, has not made a set of guidelines for HIS CREATIONS to follow. If you really think this is the case, then why would he put us here on earth? To wonder aimlessly? To party 24/7? One should ask this question with all seriousness and sincerity and then go and ask of his/her Creator for guidance God willing.

Islam is a Prevention as well as a Cure.

I do not know where you get this idea that non-Muslims want to force Muslims to believe as they believe. Certainly there are some that do (just as there are Muslims who want all non-Muslims to live as they do), but in most western societies there is a strict separation between the state and religion. I will assume that you understand how this works, as an American. It is not comparable to a theocracy as is found in Islamic states such as Iran and Saudi Arabia.

As for why we are here…well, to follow the laws of God as He has given them to us. But, as we are Christians and not Muslims, we follow them as they are given in the New Testament of the Bible (the OT laws are also important, but are not considered to be binding for us, as we are under a new covenant with the coming of Christ the Messiah), not the Quran. We do not believe that the laws as given in the Quran are binding upon us, as the Quran is not our book.

Regarding Islam as a “complete way of life”, that is fine for those who wish to live in it. For Christians, we also see our religion as a complete way of life, but not as something defined by which laws are passed where (a Christian is a Christian under any law, because he follows Christ no matter what). We are reminded of Matthew 20:21, the famous injunction that we are to render unto Caesar that which is Caesar, and unto God that which is God’s. This is NOT, to my understanding, to be used under any circumstances to rationalize avoiding doing what God says to do (such as when His commands conflict with the will of the state, we cannot say we have followed the law by disobeying God), but to remind us to obey earthly authorities because they are not ultimately the authorities with which we should be concerned. God has all authority, governments have none but that which Jesus has granted them through commandments like this one.

Blaming Christians or non-Muslims for being ignorant of Islamic tenets whereas ignoring the responses of some Muslim posters here whose writing style proves their ignorance of the basic Christian tenets, IMHO, is another form of ignorance.

Just because of isolated incidents involving airplane crashes due to human error, does this mean that we should shun air-travel altogether??

Is it right then to point to and post links to pictures of horrific accidents in order to “prove” that travelling in motor vehicles or airplanes or trains is unsafe?

The fact that, for example, there exists today in Egypt a sizable Coptic Christian community generally living in peace, just as they have done so since 1400 years ago, certainly proves that Islam is not an instrument for oppression that the detractors of Islam are claiming it to be.

This is understandable but if your answer is to follow God then tell me what laws are you following? Did Jesus eat pork? NO, do you? yes. Did Jesus commit adultry or fornication? Do Christians yes (many many many do) Did Jesus lay down his sword or did he do the opposite? (Both are in the Bible), The ten commandments are what now to the Bulk of Christiandom??? Since you claim Jesus is a Jew but yet you are Christian, I do believe you are following Paul’s words when he said in the book of 2 Timothy, 2:8 I believe…Jesus was risen from the dead according to HIS GOSPEL…not Jesus’. " Be mindful that the Lord Jesus Christ is risen again from the dead, of the seed of David, according to my gospel"

Jesus never claimed to change the laws of God. Paul did. Jesus spoke the truth when he said you must believe in him to get to heaven. We as Muslims believe that. We must believe in all the prophets of God. (Also the bible teaches that Jesus is a prophet in different verses). We do NOT DENY JESUS. To believe that God has to die to save someone of HIS OWN CREATION goes beyond reason. God is not God if he dies…even a part of Him…this is underestimating God in the extreme. He is above such things.

The laws of God are for mankind. Jesus according to the Bible was sent to whom? You find for the house of Israel and also for all the nations. Which is it?

The laws of God have been steady since Adam. One God all through. No need for sons to come into HIS SUPREMACY.

It is a blame most certainly. Didn’t God give each a brain for understanding (exempted are the mental)? Muslims are just as ignorant of their religion as non muslims are. I am claiming superiority here one bit, just to remind you that saying things without the CORRECT KNOWLEDGE stems from ignorance. Muslims are encouraged to learn their religion~actually it is INCUMBENT UPON EVERY MUSLIM TO DO JUST THAT~for they will be held accountable for their ignorance of not trying and well as what they know. It is also a plus for them to learn for the sake of learning other religions, nothing wrong with that. Those who do not exercise their brains are indeed ignorant of facts.

Thank you for your reply

Nonsense. Many Copts i have met in Christian voice chat rooms complain of forced conversions, kidnapping and aggression towards them by Muslims. The fact is, before the Muslim conquest, Egypt was largely a Christian land. The Islamic rulers, made the Copts pay the jizya in order to be “defended by Muslim armies”. Everyone knows the jizya was a mark of the non-Muslim’s inferiority. Defeated and humiliated, many Copts saw conversion as a way out of the tax system.

You obviously are not at the mic’s receiving end, listening to their cries for justice. Do you understand how difficult it is to listen to someone cry and know there is nothing you can do about it? I will stand up for a righteous Muslim (or people of other faiths), never for liars.

Praiseworthy anger as you call it, does not condone violence such as stabbing a nun because of a silly cartoon about Muhammad!

If Islam is the true religion, why is it that Muslims themselves are so ignorant of what it teaches?

Islam is a complete way of life that does not allow for independent thinking or give any credence to the fact that God created man as a rational being. When a religion even has to teach you how to wipe your bottom when you go to the bathroom, there’s something wrong, wouldn’t you say? God did not create robots but Islam turns humans into them.

Where do you get the notion that we want you to do everything the way we do? On the contrary, it’s Muslims that want to force others to accept their way of life.

Where do you also get the idea that all we want to do is party? I suppose from the same scholars who claim that all western men are drunkards or drug addicts and all western women are prostitutes!

You just said a mouthful there. The same could be same about just about any country in the region.

The heartland of the Islamic empire, the section bordering the Mediterranean rim, was a deeply Christian area, a vital spiritual and economic core of a “Western” imperium which, for over six hundred years before Mohammed’s birth, had included the non-Arab provinces of Turkey (known then as Asia, Galatia, Bithynia, Pontus and Cappadocia–where St. Paul established many of the first churches), Syria (whose city of Damascus was one of the earliest major Christian centers), Israel (homeland to the Jews since roughly 1,200 B.C., and, despite Roman efforts to expel the native population, still dotted with Hebrew villages), Egypt (populated at the time by rabidly Christian descendants of the pyramid-builders, along with significant numbers of Greeks and Jews), Libya (the former Cyrenaica), Tunisia (Carthage and its environs, where St. Augustine was born and eventually became bishop of Hippo), and Northern Algeria and Morocco (then called Mauritania).

These were the countries that had produced the Bible, the Christian monastic movement (born in Egypt), St. Jerome’s conversion (in what is now Turkey), St. John of Damascus, the famed early church historian Bishop Eusebius of Caesarea, Origen, Saint Athanasius, the Aryan heresy, a significant number of fathers of the Roman Catholic faith and the Eastern Orthodox creed.

What happened? Cultural shift? Peaceful conversions? I think most people know the answer.

Hadith # 17

Abu Ya’la Shaddad ibn Aus, may Allah be pleased with him, reported that the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said:

"Verily, Allah has enjoined excellence (ihsan) with regard to everything. So, when you kill, kill in a good way; when you slaughter, slaughter in a good way; so everyone of you should sharpen his knife, and let the slaughtered animal die comfortably."

[Muslim]

=========================

Ihsan is a comprehensive concept. It denotes doing things completely, nicely and in a tasteful manner. It comprises four components:
Sincerity (Ikhlas)
Completeness
Tastefulness (doing things in a nice manner), and
Correctness (doing things in the right way).

This concept is translated by commentators and interpreters as Excellence. Being a comprehensive concept, the term Ihsan cannot be translated word for word because there is no word in the English language that gives its exact meaning. Therefore, it is better to use it as it is.

Islam commands Muslims to practice and apply Ihsan in all that they do - hence it is an obligation (wajib).
It has been mentioned in the Qur’an as well. Allah the Almighty says:

"Verily, Allah enjoins Justice, and Ihsan and giving help to kith and kin,…" … [Surah Al-Nahl (16 ): ayat 90]

In Surah Al-Mulk (67), ayat 2 this concept is mentioned as one of two main purposes of human creation, Allah the Almighty says: "The One Who created death and life so that He may test you which of you is best of conduct."

The hadith contains a principle and provides an example of applying that principle. This is a Prophetic method to enable Muslims to apply the same principle to other similar situations. It can also be said that providing the example is a way of explaining the principle so it is easily understood.

Most of the forty ahadith collected by Imam Nawawi are of this nature. Muslims have a tendency of taking the example and forgetting about the principle. This may explain why Muslims are reminded of this hadith once a year, during Eid ul-Adha i.e. the Feast of Sacrifice.

The concept of Ihsan means that a Muslim is a responsible person and a person of quality where he does things in a very good manner, in a complete sense, in a nice and tasteful way and is never satisfied with anything other than a quality job in all that he/she does, motivated by realizing that Allah prescribed Ihsan to everything and to all deeds.

By living according to the concept of Ihsan and by applying it to all that a Muslim does, he/she will be rewarded and showered with mercy and forgiveness from Allah the Almighty. Furthermore, by doing that, a Muslim will ensure that he/she will pass the test and be amongst those of the best conduct.
