One of the hardest things for me as a protestant, coming from a reformed Baptist background, has been the intercession of the saints, and in particular, Our blessed mother. I read True Devotion to Mary and at first it horrified me. Then I read it again and it still made me tremble with fear. But on about the fourth reading through, I started to catch glimpses of how helpful Mary could be to my faith in and relationship with Jesus.

But one thing eludes me, and I don’t know how to get past it - I trust her intercession, I pray her rosary daily, but I’m not sure I love her like I really should. Perhaps it is fear on my part, but I really want to, I just don’t know what I’m missing…

Mary is our Mother. This simple consideration helps to squash many doubts. Also, Ecclesiasticus 24.

The youtube link below blew away all my doubts about our Lady and her role. The typology used and simple explanations removed the veil from my eyes. I only had to watch it once to “understand”. I have watched it countless times since.

When I was protestant I had no clue about Mary’s role other than the mother of Jesus. Even so, she brought me to the Church by a series of encounters. One of which was quite personal however I had no idea who she was and what was happening at the time. It totally freaked me out. :hypno: Thankfully I had a Catholic friend who was totally nonplussed about the event and I eventually came to understand what had happened. 😃

Pray to our Lord, Jesus, that he may give you the understanding and love He wants you to have for His mother. If it is easier for a person from your past experience to go directly to Jesus, then pray directly to Him. All prayers to His mother go to Him. Mary is nothing without Him, as is our lot also. Pray to Him and He will guide you to the love of His mother if it is His will.

We do belong to God. Top priority is adoring Him.

Round every corner you will hear poor sinners telling us to go directly to Jesus only.

Even some priests will tell you, if you find yourself praying more to the Blessed Virgin than God then you’re in need of a mother.

We are all human. We know we need a mother. And Jesus knows better than we that we can trust Mary.

When we go to Jesus, Mary is there with us by our side.

We can choose to serve the Queen Mother.

She is alive; she is the Mother of God and she is accessible.

True devotion to Our Lady detracts nothing from God. The fact is to the contrary. We are loving God more and not only more but profoundly, precisely, and most worthily through the Immaculata.

Without her in the equation, our service to the Lord is limited. With her it is unlimited. Why limit your glory to God?

You are loving Him less by not being devoted to His Mother.
After God, she is the most important mediatrix on the way to our salvation.

Consecration means speaking with Mary. Just plain conversation about anything and everything that’s on our minds.
If we love somebody we want to talk to them, and if somebody loves us they talk to us. Our Lady wants us to talk her. This is very pleasing to her and honors her Son.

Think about her and do stuff for her in her honor. But especially imitate her.
For any holy goal, the best path is ‘through’ Mary.
Her Immaculate Heart is forever serving the Sacred Heart of her Divine Son.

I wish more people will persevere in reading that book. It is one of those types of books that make people say they should have read when younger. It is a game changer. St. Louis de Montfort prophesied that his book will be hidden for a long time. And it was, during the French Revolution. It is said, that the demons fear Her intercession for a soul, more than all the prayers of all the saints put together. I have very little doubt about this now.

She is the Mother of God. She is the Mother of the Alpha and the Omega; the Mother of the beginning and the end. Unfortunately in my opinion, there is far too much Protestant influence on even among Catholics, for this to really sink in.

Do you know who truly put Herself in last place? Do you know who truly humbled Herself to the extent that the scriptures make little mention of Her, the Protestants ignore and despise Her, and even to the point that they have influenced Catholics to give up devotions they otherwise would have continued with? Though Jesus was in the spotlight in the NT, so to speak, do you know who truly was the One who raised Him, fed Him, prepared Him for whatever ministry He had to carry out?

It is said that the first will be the last and the last will be the first. The Blessed Virgin was truly the last. She always placed Herself in last place. This is why it is infinitely more humble to submit to Our Mother. This is why we give far more glory to Our Lord and Master, by submitting to the Blessed Virgin, because He Himself submitted to the Blessed Virgin. He could have chosen not to; He is God. But He did so anyways. Anything else is stealth Arianism.

Even the original Protestants were extremely devoted to the Virgin Mary. They considered a lack of devotion to the Virgin Mary to be a great sign of reprobation and not election. This won’t change and it will never change. Go back even further; the Orthodox were and still are, very devoted to the Blessed Virgin.

New thoughts take a while to get use to. And you formerly have had some kind of negative view as well. So give yourself some time and room, and exorcise some patience. Just keep thinking about it and you will get there.
