The dumbest and least favorite Christmas Songs are not listed here,

My Brother-in-law thought he was funny last year when he played “Bubba Claus is coming to Town” and “Down in the Trailer Park” at our family Christmas party. Needless to say Mama was not amused, neither was my brother who happens to live in a trailer.
But we still love him:D Got to love family

Nobody mentioned the Porky Pig version of “Blue Christmas”?

“I’ll have a b-b-b-b-blue Chri-chri-christmas w-w-w-w-w-without y-y-you.”

Oh, that drives me nuts!

But top of the list of secular songs? Don’t laugh now… “Snoopy’s Christmas”. Now if I could only find it on CD, I’d be so happy!

My all-time anti-favorite is “Have a Holly Jolly Christmas”. At least none of the songs on the list are played in malls or stores. “Holly Jolly” is almost impossible to avoid and by December 25th every year I’m just about ready to kill next time I hear it.
I agree with this, and the other extreme is the maudlin song “Have yourself a merry little Christmas”. Merry little Christmas indeed! I really cringe every year when this is played, even if it is Judy Garland.

I voted for several, but didn’t see Willie Nelson’s ***Pretty Paper ***on the list. It is so very depressing.
Pretty paper, pretty ribbons of blue
Wrap your presents to your darling from you
Pretty pencils to write “I love you”
Pretty paper, pretty ribbons of blue
Crowded street, busy feet hustle by him
Downtown shoppers, Christmas is nigh
There he sits all alone on the sidewalk
Hoping that you won’t pass him by
Should you stop?, better not, much too busy
You’re in a hurry, my how time does fly
In the distance the ringing of laughter
And in the midst of the laughter he cries
Pretty paper, pretty ribbons of blue
Wrap your presents to your darling from you
Pretty pencils to write “I love you”
Pretty paper, pretty ribbons of blue
I also think that Winter Wonderland, Baby It’s Cold Outside, and Let it Snow should not be counted as Christmas songs because they are about winter, which lasts much longer than Christmas. I do like them, I just think they could be played around here from October through April.

That utterly banal, monotonous, mind numbing “carol” about this kid who bangs a drum, demonstrating no talent, so that baby Jesus can smile, demonsttating no taste for music.
My brother (as a child )thought it was my rubber bum-bum instaed of pa-rum-pa pa pum 😃

I actually like this song
🙂

I would suggest Weird Al Yankovic’s “The Night Santa Went Crazy” as one that I don’t care for. Kind of violent in a gruesome way.

“Well the workshop is gone now, he decided to bomb it. Everywhere you’ll find pieces of Cupid and Comet…”

However I do like his “Christmas at Ground Zero” - it’s cheeryer and although it sings about a nuclear attack, it’s cleverly done.

“Well it’s Christmas at Ground Zero, the buttons have been pressed. The radio just let us know that this is not a test.”

I just heard another one on the radio this morning…

Bruce Springsteen’s Santa Claus coming to town:whacky:
( I didn’t know this guy did a Christmas album).
I can’t understand antthing he says, he mumbles almost every word.

I don’t recognize half of those songs. That means I’m either getting old or I’m succeeding at “being in the world, but not of the world” better than I thought. 😉

I voted for the John Lennon song… that thing sets me teeth on edge. His “Imagine” song also seems to be a favorite at Christmas time on the secular radio stations because it is so anti-religion.
I am with you there Chick, that song of Lennon`s really is the worst and many of the others on the list are not far behind.

I’d have to say that “Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer” would be the one song that really grates my nerves. My oldest used to know all the words by heart and sung it over and over. It was cute when he sang it, but they played this to death on the radio. I thought
I work at Sonic, and last year they played this non-stop it seemed like! I don’t think I’ll survive if they do it again this year!
Sonic. Man that brings back some memories. I worked at Sonic in high school. I can honestly say that was the only job I ever quit to keep from getting fired. That was in the days of “Sonic, we don’t start cooking until we hear from you!”. I was quite possibly the worst short order cook in history.

I can almost stomach most of these. But please, PLEASE delivery me from rap or hiphop “Christmas” stuff.:banghead:

My husband walked in the other day with this look of horror and pain on his face and said, “Believe it or not, I just heard a song that makes ‘Santa Baby’ sound wonderful.”

I said, “Dolly Parton and Rod Stewart singing ‘Baby It’s Cold Outside’, right?”

Our 12-year-old has threatened to bail out of the moving car at 55 mph if he’s forced to listen to that song again!

Whoever came up with that idea has a mean, cruel streak in them.

Why is the John Lenon song so bad? I looked up the lyrics, there doesn’t seem to be anything offensive in them… 0.o I don’t really like it myself, but is there some anti-religion undertone that I’m missing?

I voted for santa baby myself. x.x gags

I did NOT vote for John Lennon or Paul McCartney, or the Chipmunks, because the Chipmunks and the Beatles are a part of my youth and still have a warm spot in my heart. Ditto the Little Drummer Boy.

The only gripe I have with Celine Dion’s Christmas album is that she does not sing “O Holy Night” in French.

One song that I absolutely detest is the Barbara Streisand’s version of Jingle Bells. If that was on the list I would have picked that instead of Madonna whom I have never heard sing and never will. But to get back to Barbara Streisand, the reason why I hate it so much is that she sings soooooo fast
If so that has to be one of the three songs where she sings fast! She always draws out a song (to my annoyance). I had one CD by her and I gave it away.
I actually like her voice, but I can’t stand her interpretations.

**I prefer Eartha Kitt’s version of Santa Baby to Madonna’s.

And why isn’t Christmas Shoes on this list?**

No songs by Celine Dion?
OH! I agree with you! There is NO ONE who should even ATTEMPT to sing Santa Baby except Eartha Kitt!
I might have like Celine if I had not seen her interviews.
There’s something about her that plucks my last nerve.
I do love that Toy Trains song by Nana something or other…a Greek lady who sings like an angel.
