I was privy that we would have matter that would be consecrated during a Mass the night before. I just assumed it would be approved (per Latin Rite requirements) hosts.Ja, but uh that is the CIC for the Eastern Churches.
That is not in the CIC, therefore a Latin priest cannot, at least by that cannon, consecrate leavened bread.
Plus if the OP was scandalized, there was not a warning as to the why it was done, there for breaking the law.
The deacon had to add more of the Blessed Sacrament to his chalice during communion and one piece fell on the altar. He immediately picked it up and placed it in the chalice (which is fine and dandy) but in the process I noticed that it was a cube of prosphora and not an unleavened host.
That realization made my mind race like crazy just before I was to get in line for communion and I began to feel negative about the whole thing. That’s not the frame of mind to be in before receiving communion so I went without.
