Is it acceptable to leave a Daily Mass a few minutes early for work or not?

The issue to be aware of with daily Mass is how many times you take Communion in a day as opposed to leaving early, which is fine.

As there is no canonical requirement to attend daily Mass, then IMNAAHO if your duties require you to leave early, that is OK.

Bear in mind though, that I am not a priest but only a sinner.

I would much rather leave after receiving than not attend at all. You have an obligation to support your family and repeated latenesses at work would jepodize that.

There is no requirement to either attend daily Mass or to receive daily. If you wish to stop in, say 5 minutes just to hear the daily readings or the sermon, that’s perfectly fine. Many people don’t even get that chance.

I think if you know you have to leave early, you make sure you get a good seat so you can make a quiet, discrete exit. So that the other people cant tell when you left: you were there, they look away, glance back, and your gone.

Depends and generally not acceptable to leave early
Since daily mass is not required, it is completely fine to arrive late or leave mass early. I asked our priest, and he assured me it completely fine.

Certainly, if being late for work would jeopardize your job, but not if stopping at Starbucks on the way to work is the priority. (Catholics should avoid Starbucks anyway)
In any case it is disrespectful to the Mass itself and to the priest. You should at least take time to say a proper thanksgiving before leaving.
Remember, Judas was the first one to leave Mass early.

Bad coffee isn’t a sin. At least not last time I checked.

Whatever your reasoning (and I’ll assume it has to do with the “gay agenda”, these things usually do) we need to be careful about putting requirements onto people that the Church hasn’t. The Church doesn’t require that people avoid Starbucks.

For the OP: If you can get to even part of daily mass then go. It’s perfectly fine to leave early, whatever your reasons.

At St. Peter’s Church in downtown Chicago, While Mass is in progress. there is a priest standing with the Eucharist for anyone who needs to run and leave quickly. That’s a very practical practice.

I remember from my altarboy days of many years ago that the priest would distribute communion before Mass to those who had to leave. I can’t remember the exact circumstances but I recall that it happened at early morning weekday Masses regularly for a while. I wonder if it was during Lent.

I had this happen at a church I used to attend. They offered it on Holy Days as well. Unfortunately, in these times religion is of no concern to your employer and you are sometimes forced to “cut corners” to make it to church and to work.

If that’s the only reason you go for Mass, I suppose it is.
