Leaving Mass early?!

Forgive me if this sounds a little self-righteous, but I’ll remember these comments when I’m trying to get to mass either before or after a 12 hour shift at work. I’m a nurse and like to go to mass after working a 12 hour night shift…sometimes I can barely stay awake until communion. Leaving a few minutes early must be preferable to snoring in the pew. At least when I get outside the fresh air revives me enough to get home.
Sat evening mass can run long, I get penalized if I’m late for work. My colleagues are counting on me to relieve them after their long days.
This is just another way of looking at it. You don’t always know that when someone leaves early that they’re on their way to the nearest diner…

That’s an excellent point, but let’s face it. The majority of the early-leavers are not in a similar situation. I would have no problem with you going to work, but when Steve down the street wants to get out early to watch the game…that’s a different story.

In him, through her,
Pio Magnus
