*I just think that the Christian Satan is not logical and cannot exist. *

Do you prefer not to tell us what religion you are, or whether you are religious?

It would help us get a handle on how to answer you.

God has given us freewill to chose Him or otherwise, without a second choice (Satan) freewill would be pointless.
Evil is a consequence of free will, not some evil deceiver and tempter. The only logical way Satan makes sense is if he is a metaphor for the temptation for ourselves to do evil.

I consider myself to be spiritual and I believe in God, but I disagree with a lot of things that the church says.

You don’t say you are a Christian, so I suppose you are not. There is therefore no reason for you to believe in the devil or in much else that the Church teaches.

If you belong to a particular denomination and have been baptized and attend church, again, it would help us to find out whether we are more or less on the same page or are reading very different books.

There is a large school of liberal “spiritualists” in Western civilization who would like to water down traditional Christianity as much as possible, especially the parts they don’t like. “The devil does not exist.” “Jesus was gay.” Etc. All kinds of nonsense for which there is no evidence in the Bible or in traditional Church teachings. Unable to bring themselves to mount a frontal attack on religion, they choose instead to quietly and cleverly create “leaks of faith,” rather than “leaps of faith,” in the pipeline of traditional Christian theology. Such gradual chipping away at Christian convictions often results in not having enough faith to move an ant hill, never mind a mountain.

We humans dont have to have anything to do with ‘Satan’

He is just a former Angel of Heaven and fell because 'Using His Free Will" he chose not to be Obedient to God

He desires worship

He is Jealous of the worship of God and jealous of Mans Salvation

Just like if you would go to a dance bar,and a girl might offer to give you pleasures which you know are against your Faith, you could say she is ‘tempting you’

Or if we are in a car and i spur you on to drive faster and faster and you go for it and drive dangerously

Where i live a month ago 4 boys died in a car because the driver drove drunk and was speeding at 160 in an 80 zone.

Or if i encourage you to smoke some marijuana with me or flash cocaine at you and drag you into it

The Devil is a Wretched creature who would have us all in a disastrous state of misery and hell and death

We believe in God and just like any of us can use our freedom to do harmful destructive deeds ,so to some of His Angels chose to become wicked and live now in a Dark state far and permanantly away from the Light and Grace of God

Satan is a real person who jesus calls the “lawless one” who seeks the ruin of souls. God does gives us free will including satan and the victims of the flood. God allows Satan to tempt us and test our faith in God. The most popular theory today for people is that satan doesn’t exist and that it is just ourselves. There is no point to debate with him becuase he doesn’t believe in Jesus and our words do nothing to convince him. He has made up his mind already and all he is looking to do is stump christians with their own bible.

Yes, this is pretty much my thinking. We do evil deeds because they benefit us in some way (or at least we think they will). It isn’t Satan tempting us, it is our own free will at work. Worldly pleasures tempt us, not some fallen angel.

And I was baptized Catholic and went to Catholic school through high school. I don’t agree with a lot of things the church says so I’m not too sure if I would consider myself a catholic.

Satan also has free will

Just like i or we can tempt eachother, why cant you believe an Angel(fallen) can also tempt you

read some lives of Saints of the Church, even the most Devout benefit still from reading them

If in case you ward them off as fables.

How would a fallen angel tempt you? Can he get into your mind? IF he can do that, then God must know it is going on. If God does not stop it, then he is letting it happen. Why would an all powerful and all good God let an angel tempt you? If anything, that is interfering with your own free will.

Logically, Satan as the great tempter does not make any sense. The only way that satan could tempt people like this is if he is as powerful (or more powerful) than God, or if Satan is another entity of God, or God just lets people be tempted by an evil power that he could stop if he wanted to (and he has stopped MANY people that were doing evil before) but does not.

I just can’t imagine a loving God letting everyone be tempted by a supernatural power on a very regular basis. It just doesn’t make any sense at all.

Have you read how Jesus was ‘tempted’ by the Devil in the NT?

In the NT also it says ‘Satan put it into the heart of Jesus to betray Jesus’

If our hearts are full of sinful passions and desires this produces thoughts up to our minds that push us or make us think to say ‘smoke that Cigarette’ or ‘Pull the trigger and blow away an enemy’

or act on our hearts sinful desire and click onto porn movies to watch them after it had entered our mind to do so

Satan has become smelly and corrupt,if he becomes close to you ,you may be able to smell his vileness,he may be able to entice you to Lustful thoughts and feelings,or to put thoughts against God in you

But hes like an aerolpane carrying a bomb,if we ignore his enticements and resist him ‘He will flee from us’ as the NT says

But if we give in to say the Lustful feelings and start to act on them we have like allowed that aeroplane to release that Bomb into us

Study into spiritual warfare some time, you’ll see how much of the battle remains within our very thoughts. Sometimes it’s derrived from our direct choice, othertimes, it’s clearly demonic influence, in your case, you are a victim of it to a very large degree…us Catholics make such good targets because getting us to fall yeilds a greater reward then those that are of the world because he already has them in his grasp, there is no challenge for them.

You say you only believe in some of the things the church teaches, it’s like a spoiled child in a high chair not wanting to eat their vegetables, they toss them onto the ground because they displease them, yet we know the child will become sick “just as you are now”, if their diet is lacking them. Too often people take that stance, and when things go wrong for them, they blame God for it.

I am not a victim of demonic influence. I do not believe that demons exist.

I am not going to just follow the church blindly just because it is “the church.” I can’t do that, nor do I think that it is right. There are certain things that the church preaches that go against common sense morality (example: not supporting condom use in Africa).

I think that any supernatural force is just a form God takes. Angels could just be a form God takes, but demons could not be.
If God could create us Humans/men why could Angels not exist,or have been created?

whats the issue ?

This is best saved for another thread but in a quick summary the church believes that condoms do not offer total protection against aids and other viruses, they merely give a false sense of safety. Chastity (no sex outside of marriage) is the best weapon against these viruses

As for Satan, he and his evils are just as visible as God and His Goods.

It is easy to infer that Satan and God are of equal power from this statement.
They are not in any way equal, but the many evils he brings to this world are very visible. As the saying goes satans greatest trick is convincing people he doesn’t exist. By convincing people he doesn’t exist they see the evils he brings as simple human acts. Thus undermining Satans greatest enemy, the Church by shaking the simple fact that Jesus said Satan was real. Satan can do his evils but ultimately God steps in and ends them.

For example, during 1940 through to 1944 there were extremely cold winters in Europe, especially in Russia, this just happened to occur as the Nazis where deep into Russia, killing hundreds of Nazi troops a day because they weren’t equipped to handle the cold. Their panzers broke down and froze, It was the coldest winters in century’s for Russia. Is it a coincidence that it struck at the perfect time to break the Nazi war machine?
