Leaving the RCC for Neo-Druidism

The Church has always had more than a surface understanding of “no salvation outside the [Catholic] Church.” If you read the writings of those in the past, you will see that this is deeper than it appears. Even the most ancient councils that acknowledged this belief made exceptions and recognized the validity of others’ sacraments. That is why there may be exceptions like infants and those who are mentally incapable of normal thought (as well as brethren within other Apostolic and Christian traditions). Ultimately, we do not judge the final destination of an individual. Whether you want to acknowledge or accept this; well, that is your choice to make. I wish you well on your journey–it will be very interesting, no doubt…

Prayers and petitions in Christ,

Now it’s been changed to some nebulous list of yes buts and all kinds of fluff that can’t seem to explain how to make it to Heaven.

The only thing that seems to be agreed one is sex that doesn’t give birth to new babies is a very bad thing.

For this reason I have decided to join the ADF (Ian Corrigan’s organization) soon as I am able.
Do you expect the pope to say “do whatever you want and belong wherever you want and you will be saved”?

The Catholic Church teaches how to get to heaven. Are you surprised?

You are very badly informed about Catholic teaching on sex.

Who is Mr. Corrigan? Why do you trust him? What do you know about him? Why do you choose man-made “religion” instead of truth revealed by God? Do you thing you will get to heaven by following Mr. Corrigan’s rules?

Yes there is. But I think he meant my I end up back here.

An I’m becoming a Druid not a Wiccan.
Back here isn’t so much important to me as it would seem. I have said before that if being a non-Catholic Christian is your only way to Christ, then go for it.

As far as being a neo-druid, I hope that you can be honest with yourself if it does not fill the needs in your soul. So many people walk away from the faith and if they do not find fulfillment, they cannot stand to come back.

I’ve seen a Druid Apologetics essay written by one of the Celtic Christian organizations.

My comment was for the person who confused
Isaac’s ex-organization with Wicca.

Actually I don’t even expect him to care.

I guess I didn’t make myself clear enough. The Church’s teachings on Salvation seem clear as mud. One party says only Catholics will make it to Heaven and have quotations from the Bible, Popes and Councils to prove this.

The other view as the same.

Each saying the other is twisting it.

But in the end the only thing I get is even as a practicing Catholic in all likely hood I’ll still go to hell. This was backed up with Church approved material.

Talk about sorry, weak and ineffective sacraments if the people depending on them are all but promised hell.

Only in marriage, no condoms, no ABC period even looking down on those that use it for other reasons.

Even with married couples that are infertile there is a strong discouragement to have sex together.

I’m honestly convinced the RCC is man made. An to be frank from what I’ve seen from a Catholic view point I am promised hell just as much either way.

The thread awhile back about what was it 5 out of 3,000 making it to Heaven. That was more or less the last nail. That and the fact the church can’t make up it’s mind about No Salvation Outside the Church.

I agree friend. I’m looking all over to fill this hole in me and Jesus just doesn’t cut it.

I’d love to read that sometime. is it online?

Hey CyberWolf,

I’ve read this thread with interest. The only authoritative thing I know about druids is that they used to cut their enemies heads off and preserve them in cedar boxes.

I learned that when I was a kid. It was either Marcus Aurelius or Julius Caesar that wrote about fighting them. Anyway…

If you feel this way, it’s doubtful that neo-Druidism will cut it either.

I hope (I really do) that you don’t take offense at this, but have you ever been to a psychologist?

Many Christian priests and Jewish rabbis have trained as analysts besides their studies in theology. If your own Catholic priest isn’t qualified to help you explore your own motivations in this fashion, I would imagine he could refer you to someone who is.

This doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t pursue Druidism, or that there’s anything wrong with you. Feelings like yours (emptiness) are pretty common in our society. It’s often very enlightening to uncover the causes, and once understood, this might lead you to having an even more authentic spiritual experience (with Jesus, or the Druid gods, or whatever else brings you the most happiness).

God (and/or gods) bless you. And thanks again for such an interesting conversation. I now know a little bit more than nothing about neo-Druidism, and I’m grateful.

I found it online, but didn’t bookmark it. It was one of those pages that I thought would be easy to find using Google.

One of the following keywords might locate it again.
  • “Celtic Christianity”
  • Culdees (Also use both the Scottish and the Irish Gaelic spelling.)
  • Christian Druids;
The article was in English. 😦

Thanks J I’ll take a look into it if you find it give me a PM or post it.

Right now one of my ex-girl friends after talking to me about this is considered me a Catholic in Denial and my closest Wiccan friend every other night is asking if I’ve gone back to Catholicism yet.

Cyber,
Have you asked them what it is that they see in you that makes them think that it is not a perminant or true conversion on your part?

We must each walk our path on this spiritual journey and your path is yours and only yours to walk.

Your decision need not make (common) sense to anyone else; hopefully, it makes spiritual sense to you.

If it does, then go where God leads you.
