Lectio Divina "dilemma"

A friend had given me a small gift book of scripture verses. For a long period of time, I was using that small book of verses, instead of going through my Bible for lectio divina verses to begin my journal.
I have thought of double journaling. That is keeping a spiritual journal that uses lectio divina, as my spiritual director had me writing, and then starting another journal where I just simply write. That was how I had been journaling before. I now belong to a writers’ group and find different reasons for writing.
 
I can’t really imagine LD being fruitful for my very ADhD self in a group setting. I’m certain my moments of recollection, fruitful meditation and lectio divina are a grace from our Lord. I never really have poppers-more like a lifting of a veil. So that I see something I hadn’t seen before or a connection I hadn’t connected before. Its almost like letting God direct your faculties. There is always more of the same Truth to be revealed in the sacred scriptures. I don’t think taking only a few words in at a time is as necessary as having an attentive and patient disposition-which Jesus will give if u ask. I decided to read the whole bible and read it NT, OT and NT again. It was an epiphany of God’s providence and of the beauty of salvation history. However before reading it through if someone gave me a sentence I’d have no idea of context etc.
Don’t give up if the group session isn’t very fruitful. Try it just you and God together. God will give u eyes to see and ears to hear- if u ask Him. Ask Him to collect your faculties and direct them. HE 100% NO EXCEPTIONS wants to open the scriptures to u. Keep a catechism close by. (For when the doozies come up). Also be prepared for temptations toward doubt…if u feel it say Lord! Help my unbelief! Lastly-begin every period of reading by declaring : Jesus is Lord and Savior and that you only give permission to God the father, the son, and the holy spirit to direct you in your reading.

The whole group setting thing seems strange. As well as the having someone read the passage. I like the post about reading to hear our Lord…as opposed to ourselves. I just think the pressures of a group setting that requests immediate (name removed by moderator)ut seems counterintuitive. Like how could one not be overly focused on what they will say. Read/listen/wonder/discern/confirm/praise/adore.
 
I wasn’t comfortable either in that particular group setting.

I don’t have a problem with the priest reading the passage and guiding our meditation, then have a group discussion afterwards about it - all voluntary responses - the opposite of expecting someone to give a response.

But I understand the point you are making.
 
Thanks. I don’t know why the price is so high (around $35) when the softbound in the publisher’s store in Asia sells for only around $12. The cost of making a paperback into hardcover is around $3 in some places.
 
the only problem with a protestant “read the Bible in one year” is that you will actually not be reading the whole* Bible because the protestant version leaves out seven very special books, as well as parts of Daniel and Esther. so if you really want to read the whole Bible in a year, you may want to try the plan i wrote for Catholic bibles [here] or another Catholic plan.

Why feel pressure to “pop” or contribute? If you are not feeling led by the Holy Spirit to contribute, then don’t. That may be your leading. When you do feel an urging to contribute, then do so. Not every reading leads one to an impulse to speak. With Group Lectio Divina, the contribution of each may lead to a message for “all”, or maybe not. You don’t have feel you must say something. If you just feel inhibited speaking in front of group, perhaps just being there at this point is sufficient.
 
I know that a non-Catholic Bible plan does not include all the books of the Bible.
I have read the Bible several times, cover to cover, in different translations on my own.
I do pray the LOTH, and read the Mass reading everyday as well.
I own The Catholic Answers Bible, which was suggested when I was taking the Bible Study Class while living in the Middle East. I am currently reading the Didache Bible, so I read the commentary as part of Scriptural reading. It is directly linked to the CCC.
I will look at the link provided.
