"If the practice of Lectio Divina is promoted with efficacy, I am convinced
that it will produce a new spiritual springtime in
the Church." Benedict XVI (16.11.2005)

Lectio Divina briefly is the meditative and prayerful reading of Scripture. I usually try to give time to Lectio Divina per se on Sundays. Less formally (and less time) through the week after Morning Prayer using the Readings and Gospel for the day.

On the following link you will find the Gospel Reading for each Sunday of this year along with valuable information (in a format of Lectio) on the Sunday’s Gospel.

Thanks Barbara.

I have a question. It would seem that a Daily Missal would be perfect for praying Lectio Divina. Which Missal would you use? Would you use the Daily Roman Missal? Would you use the 1962 Missal? Would it depend on the type of mass you typically attend (Daily Roman Missal if you attend Novus Ordo, 1962 Missal if you attend TLM)?

As Kramer said… this scracthes me right where I itch (especially as I have been thinking of picking up a Missal anyway). Oh and I fully concur with the quote from Pope Benedict XVI. Even though I don’t really pray Lectio Divina, I try to take some time each day to read a little from the Bible.

Hi Craig…Any passage of Scripture may be used for Lectio Divina and the link I gave uses always the same Gospel as the Mass I attend on Sundays. Personally I usually always use the Gospel from the Sunday.

God’s Blessings and His Peace…Barb
