Left Behind series spawns violent video game.

What do you guys think…Is this something Christians should play? “This isn’t your run-of-the-mill video game: “Left Behind: Eternal Forces” is based on the best-selling “Left Behind” book series about the apocalypse. But it’s the apocalypse without dismemberment or graphic bloodshed, though the game has an element of violence that some Christians argue is counter to teachings of the Bible.”

Well only catholics can play it since all other REAL Christians were raputred up! IIRC the Pope got raptured too becuase he realized just in time that one is saved by faith alone. i quit midway through then second book-cardboard characters, no real plot and loaded with anti-cahtolic bigotry.
 
I’m only playing it if it has those flying scorpion creatures from Revelations that sting you and make you pray for death.
 
My son loves video games and keeps on top of all the reviews of the latest and greatest. He told me that it was one game he would not be playing because it is bigoted and certainly does not protray Christianity in any sense of the word. It actually advocates Christians being violent.

OK. Now you lost me. That’s like saying your problem with Deep Throat is the profanity.

Personally, I like violent video games–I’m a huge fan of the Metal Gear series, for instance. In the third game, the Sorrow, who’s the ghost of a medium, summons the ghosts of everyone you’ve killed and has them attack you. It gives incentive, over and above the fact that kills lower your score, not to kill anyone.
And that’s the point: violence, in video games or movies, is usually presented in a moral framework; it’s just about the only thing that is. If, as I always say, we portrayed violence like we do sex, every movie would be Natural Born Killers.

The real problem with a Left Behind game (other than the almost inescapable fact it’s gotta suck, and badly) is that those books are unintelligent millenarian horse hockey, and anti-Catholic to boot.
 
It is not the violence that is the problem. The problem is the moral message. The moral message in this game is simply that you kill anyone who does not believe the way you do. (Sound like a familiar theology taught in certain foreign countries?) However, teaching this type of moral message plays out in the 9-11 scene.

Ease up…Hastrman. :mad: I just thought this was an interesting topic, that I came across, so I posted it. I don’t like the anti-Catholic **** that they spread either. I don’t know if I would lump them in with Jack Chick or the SDA though. Also I enjoy some first person shooter games like HALO.😃

I haven’t played the game yet, and I’m probably not going to, but Left Behind is one of the last things I would consider anti-Catholic!:nope:

Why?

Do you know what the Left Behind series is about? Are you familiar with Church teachings on rapture?

Or do you not consider it anti-Catholic because they may not mention Catholicism explicitly?

(Just curious… )

Umm…have you read the books? The anti-Christ character in the book makes one of the remaining Catholic Bishops the pope and leader of the anti-Christ’s one world “church” and you don’t consider this to be anti-Catholic?

Just curious too…

I have read up to the 3rd book and yes, I suppose that is anti-Catholic:(, but that doesn’t mean the whole series is! Those were the actions of a character who is supposed to be anti-Catholic!🤷

As suggested by others, I think you need to look more into the books. Many here agree it is blatantly anti-Catholic. It’s not just the character, but the whole premise of the books is anti-Catholic.
 
Somehow I am guessing this game is not going to be as good as Half-Life or Crysis. ;p
