Hello all,

Title pretty much says it all. Used the list to give myself cues, left it in the confessional, and about 5-10 more people must have used that confessional after me. I didn’t realize I left it there until I was nearly home. The confessionals get locked (I’m fairly sure), but might possibly be opened in the morning (I’m leaving early in the morning for a trip, though). What should I do? I really don’t care if anyone finds the list- the sins aren’t particularly embarrassing, and no one will ever connect them with me (I’m in a foreign country).

There’s nothing you can do, I’m not sure what you wanted us to suggest. Likelihood is the next person to use the confessional after you discovered it and either informed the Priest or disposed of it, I doubt it’s still there now.

I wouldn’t worry about it. Anyway, people are probably preoccupied with their own sins.

Remove it from your mind. Let it go. If I saw a piece of paper in the confessional, I would leave it there. It would not be mine to take. Probably anyone who did take it might glance at it before crumpling it up and putting it in the trash.

There’s a lesson here. If you’re going to write down your sins (which I do also), don’t put your name on it.

I wouldn’t worry about it. No one will know they’re yours. If I found such a list, I’d stop reading once I realized what it was and dispose of it. Whoever found it is likely to do the same.

Don’t worry about it. I’m sure the priest will dispose of it.

Recently, I did a general confession. After I was finished the priest ordered me to give him my list and he disposed of it saying “Your job now is to never think of these sins again”. I’m sure any good priest or lay person discovering the list would probably just dispose of it for you.
