What does the priest do with the left over Communion? I think I see him drink the left over Blood but what about the Body? I don’t think he would eat all of it but I don’t know.

The tabernacle is the precious box that Our Blessed Lord is put into at the end of mass. Also, according to GIRM, the priest may eat the hosts instead of putting it in the tabernacle.

The Sacred Body is reserved there and is used to give Holy Communion outside of Mass. Examples of this would be taking Holy Communion to the sick, housebound, and dying. Sometimes, it can be used at Mass if enough Hosts weren’t consecrated. The priest also needs to ensure that the Hosts are used before they become stale. The attached image shows a tabernacle.

Thank you for the answers. I had started to wonder what they did with the left overs since I just saw them take it away. I think I have seen the tabernacle in my church. I think it is in the Chapel but I am not sure.

the tabernacle is usually somewhere behind or around the altar.

The tabernacle could be located in a separate chapel or some other part of the church that is not immediately noticed by the casual observer. You can usually spot it by the red light (usually a candle or oil lamp) that will be near by.

Occasionally, if Mass is being said at a chapel or other location that doesn’t have a tabernacle, then if there is not an appropriate way to transfer the Blessed Sacrament to a locaiton with a tabernacle, any hosts remaining after everyone has received Holy Communion are also consumed.
In a regular parish church, the tabernacle ought to be located in a prominent place. There are a few churches constructed that are not in compliance with this yet.
Having said that, I remember taking our kids to a beautiful older church with a lovely high altar that is probably 100 years old or more. At our home church, the tabernacle is a separate structure off to one side of the main altar. It is very prominent, but it is not directly behind the main altar.
Typical of older chuches, the high altar of this other church we visited had a tabernacle at the middle, with a white lace curtain in front of the tabernacle’s gold-plated door. One of my sons, who loved this church, asked, “Where is the tabernacle?” “It’s there on the high altar.” “Where?” “Behind the white curtain.” “Well,* that’s* a sneaky place to put it!”

I was taken aback by what he was saying, I meant no disrespect to him. I just noticed before I rote that, that he had Catholic noted as his religion. It was meant to say more about the condition of the Church in the 1970’s.

i understand where you are coming from in regards to the condition of the Church in the 1970’s and i also noted Catholic next to his religion. however, he doesn’t have that many posts, so maybe he is a recent revert or convert. not sure, but i recognized his username from another thread i was on.

I don’t know that much about my religion despite the fact that I have been Catholic since birth. So I might ask question that most people already know the answer to. And I recognize you too, 7 Sorrows.
