I need to learn how this forum works because I posted a reply to the OP’s post, but I don’t see it anywhere. Fo that matter, I don’t see another post that listed a church in Jacksonville that I quoted. I received the “subscribed to the thread…” email, but don’t see the posts anywhere. Hmm. whatever.

WElcome home, Violapat. I was away for 40 years and came back in the 90’s. And felt so lost in many ways, but longed to go up and receive Jesus in the eucharist from the first Mass I attended. i sat in the back and followed along with all the mechanics and eventually it felt right again. Confession was a really big deal, but the priest put me at ease in the first couple minutes, told me he would help with everything and asked me if I wanted to continue to kneel behind the screen or come around the half wall and have a seat and talk. Honestly, my knees were shaking so bad I was having a really hard time kneeling. I loved my first confession and cried and laughed and jumped for joy afterward. Later, I got a book about confession and was driven to go back to confession and name each sin I could recall as the Holy Spirit prompted me. Then, after that, I resolved to keep my closest connection with the Lord so I would never wander again. Meanwhile, I read everything I could get my hands on about the faith, watched EWTN, boughtt books, CDs, checked them out of the library at my church, joined a Catholic Bible study, etc, etc. etc. It is clear to me how very little I understood my faith even though I was raised Catholic and attended Catholic school for 12 years. It’s been a labor of love that has changed my life in so many good ways. Sorry to ramble, but I hope you get the idea of what I’m saying to you. It’s a joy to be a Cathlic, knowing that this church is the one started by Jesus when he walked on the earth. He left his church to hellp us all get to everlasting life with him. His love shines through here.

I posted this once before, but the post is gone?? So, I’ll say it again…

This church is my Mom’s old church. She loved it, but returned to San Diego, so now goes to another. My Mom told me on Pet Blessing day at Immaculate Conception, everybody lines up outside with their dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, etc. to have them blessed by the Pastor. Thatt’s so great:) .

I have only seen pictures of it. I was especially taken by the two angel Holy Water fonts you see at the entrance. My Mom said these were very striking in real life.

Welcome back to the Catholic Faith. Pray for comfort and for a special dose of the Holy Spirit to guide you on your journey back home to where the Faith is strong and true.

Patrick

Thank you so much for all your posts. I feel very encouraged and uplifted!

Hi Violapat, I have been a Catholic born and bred for almost 80 years. I have watched and heard the Mass change over the years but the basic tenets have never changed. It all centers on Jesus. I have had a couple of serious glitches in my faith and practises over the years but always come back home. The advice you received about going to confession is probably the best way to get back. The priests are usually very helpful and glad to have you back. If you tell them what you have posted here they will tell you the very best way to go about it. I am so happy for you. It seems to me that the Church is slowly coming back to the old traditional way.

Hey Violapat, how are things going?

Why don’t you tell us something that you want to know about.

It would be great if you’d ask us. We can address things individually.

UPDATE! Ok I did it. I went to mass last night early and went to confession. It was a wonderful experience. The priest was so helpful. My catholic Journey has now begun again. Peace Peace. I still have so many questions. I truly don’t remember much of the churches teachings. I actually bought a rosary and gonna start using it. My biggest question is about praying to the saints and the virgin Mary. Understand, I attended a pentecostal faith that denounced all those things. Still have a lot of confusion. Can you still be Catholic if you don’t agree with everything? If not I have to find a way to reconcile with things that I have been taught in another faith. I do believe in the baptism of hte Holy Spirit. But I don’t think that is an erroneous teaching to the church.

It might be a good idea to start a new thread for these other questions. There is also some great information on the Catholic Answers main site.

So happy for you that you had a wonderful Coming Home night! 👍

It’s good to hear that you have a priest you feel open with.

Let’s start you a new thread in a more accurate location where we can address your thoughts.
