I think the first thing is to talk with a priest and then make a confession. That’s what my wife did in her process of returning.
 
It depends on when the person left the Church. If they have not yet received the sacraments of Confirmation and First Holy Communion, they will probably need to go through RCIA.

If they have already received these sacraments, they will probably just need to talk to a priest and go to confession, as stated above.

Either way, the process starts with talking to a priest.
 
Thanks for the info, well I have done everything except my “confirmation”. But I will talk with a priest! thanks
 
Welcome home! Don’t be tempted to worry about what the priest might think. Most priests would bend over backwards to help you get back to the Sacraments.

It would depend on how and why they left. The first step would be to make an appointment with the pastor and discuss their specific situation. There may be a formal process for returning Catholics at the parish he will ask you to attend.
