Thank you Br. J.R. for your clarification. I thought the society could “tick many of the boxes” for her brother in terms of Orthodoxy, commitment to a rich liturgy, missionary zeal and strong emphasis on charity.

From their website:

“Who We Are Get to Know Us
The Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest is a Society of Apostolic Life of Pontifical Right whose goal is the honor of God and the sanctification of priests in the service of the Church and souls. Its specific aim is missionary: to spread the reign of our Lord Jesus Christ in all spheres of human life. Our work is carried out under the patronage of the Immaculate Conception, to Whom the Institute is consecrated.”

Jacie, I’m sincerely praying for your brother at this time.

Don’t get me wrong. I love these guys. But they don’t live a consecrated life. For those who have a religious vocation, this can be a stumbling block. The LC, on the other hand, is a religious congregation. Unless you’re called to secular life, it’s very hard to transfer from a religious congregation to a society of apostolic life.

Fraternally,

Br. JR, OSF 🙂

Br. JR how would you describe the Beatitudes? beatitudes.us/ I have heard such wonderful things here in Europe about them and their spirituality. They also have priests, consecrated sisters (and brothers?), single people, married couples and families - all vocations are represented. Are you familiar with them? I believe they were founded in France.

I don’t know them. But their website is very impressive and they have some good people supporting them.

The Schoenstatt movement is huge here in Germany. Our parish priest is a Schoenstatt Father. I had never heard of the movement but they have a house in Austin schoenstatt.us/aboutus/fathers.php and apparently the Schoenstatt sisters were on EWTN. They are strongly Marian and Eucharistic. They are secular priests but always are involved with the larger Schoenstatt movement which has a strong community focus.
