Legitimate civil resistance

I’m interested to hear what peoples’ take on abortion tax-resistance is. Is tax-resistance a legitimate exercise of the “render to God what is God’s” principle when it comes to defending life and resisting murderous laws? There are folks who are already doing this (David Little in Canada: morecanada.info) and advocating it on a large scale (prolifestrike.org). What are your thoughts?

I am skeptical of tax resistance.

I think it is a half-hearted way to resist.

If a government is so evil that resistance is justified, then by all means resist. Don’t merely not pay the taxes, kill the tax collector any anyone else supporting the tyranny, and the tryrants.

If the government is not so evil, we must restrict our resistance to lawful means.

That, at least, is my knee-jerk reaction.

Matthew 22:21 ‘Very well, pay Caesar what belongs to Caesar – and God what belongs to God.’

I don’t like the fact that my taxes pay for abortion but they will take the money whether I give it to them or not, I will just get a prison sentence first.

Better to write to the government about it.

I would not mess with the IRS. They couldn’t care less why did not pay your taxes and have the power to take your property and/or garnish your wages or whatever else they can do get it, plus interest and penalties. In the end, abortion on demand will still be the law of the land and you will be making payments to the government for who knows how long. It would be better to direct your pro-life energies to a good pro-life rosary procession or better yet take part in a 40 days for life campaign.
