Hi all!

I am considering attending a solemn high mass at my friend’s church. I’m a protestant. I have been to a Holy Thursday Mass. I’m considering attending this week’s Saturday vigil. The Holy Thursday Mass was about two hours long. Will a Pentecost Solemn High Mass be about the same length? I do have an engagement later on in the evening, so I just wanted to know.

At our FSSP parish, a Solemn High Mass can take 1 1/2 - 2 Hours, depending on the length of the epistle, Gospel and the homily. Our sung High Masses about 1 1/2 hours.

I love the liturgy. 🙂

Depending on which rite. Anglican tends to be 1 1/2 hours. Don’t know if the Ordinariate uses the term High Mass anymore.

depends … if it’s the Ordinary Form, it will most likely not be as long as Holy Thursday. But if it’s in the Extraordinary Form, it could be over 2 hours.

God Bless

My group does, basically to distinguish between a Sunday Mass and a Weekday Mass. Although there is not the strict distinction there is in the Tridentine, a High Mass is sung with incense.

This is highly variable depending on the priests and the choir involved, and the decisions they make regarding music.

At my FSSP parish we’ve had a Solemn High Mass go as short as 1 hour 20 minutes, and as long as 2 hours. Expect something in that range.
