Most creative idea I’ve seen yet! It’s a website that sends you a new sacrifice to give up each day of Lent… and you don’t know what it is. Day one is “Today Give up Forks, Spoons, & Knives when Eating.” hahaha. and you get Twitter updates each day. www.WhatToGiveUpForLent.com. I was going to give up chocolate, which I think I will still do but in addition to this daily thing.

I won’t be going online except as necessary…so no CAF for me. I may be starting a little early, as I have a lot to be busy with in the next week, and sometimes I’m here when I should be doing something else. :o

Thanks for all the great answers and feed back.
Awesome!

I am going to cut down my online time and use some of it for prayer

We do the Holy week services - Tenebrae on Wednesday, Holy Thursday -last supper service, Good Friday service and late night stations , then
Easter Vigil

No CAF. 😦

Less online time in general.

40 Days for Life on Fridays in front of Planned Parenthood. 40 Days For Life

Fasting on Fridays. One meal if possible, water and juice if necessary.

Mass as many weekdays as I can.

More time in adoration.

No sweets or junk food.

No pop.

I’m debating no Internet except when my daughter is asleep, but not sure if I want to that or just cut it out completely.

Getting ‘dressed up’ every day. I’m a SAHM so I end up in jeans, ratty t-shirt, and a pony-tail way too often. I’m hoping that my dressing up (hair done, jeans are still okay, but nice shirts instead of t-shirts) this will lead to dressing up more frequently which my DH has commented on wanting a number of times.

This is a good thread with lots of ideas.

I have not decided what to do. I think I will aim for a Rosary a day and a second reading of the Bible at night – possibly some parts of Isaiah that I find to be particularly comforting.

I am not sure about giving up some internet stuff. That would probably be a good idea too.

I think that if you give something up for Lent, then you are relieved of that on Sunday.

Interestingly, on another thread someone posted a quote from CS Lewis that basically said that love is neither intrinsically good or bad. The key is the direction that love moves us – toward God / virtue or toward the enemy. I wonder if the internet is like that. The determinant of whether the internet is good or bad is the direction that it moves us?

By that criteria, this site is pretty good.

Perhaps, instead of the internet I will also try to read at least one book on prayer and one book by CS Lewis. I have one of his books that I started and did not finish.

I may also try to get something finished that I hope will be of service to others.
