Rarely I eat meat. May I suppress vegetables on days of abstinence instead, since it would cost more than eat meat?

As a private devotion you can do whatever you like…but if you wish to be sure…Best to ask your priest.

Peace
James

Fast and abstain on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. Abstain from meat on Fridays of Lent. On the other days you could purposely eat meat as a penance. After all, when our Lord sent out the disciples to preach He instructed them to eat “whatever was set before them.” Humble submission in the matter of food and drink is not easy but very good as it enables us to be more selfless in our personal tastes, more obedient, and thereby more Christlike. Hope this helps. Have a blessed Lent.😃

Feel free to give up vegetables for Lent, but you must abstain from meat on days of fasting/abstinence.
