A couple of weeks ago, I asked for ideas for Lent. I wanted something different – not just giving up candy, chocolate or alcohol (the typical stuff). I was blessed to receive a number of simply outstanding suggestions that I never would have thought of on my own.

Whomever suggested 90 Days for Ninevah, I extend a special thanks. That is what I am going to do, even if it goes beyond the typical Lenten period. I will be starting a little “late” (the challenge began Feb. 13th), but that just means I end a few days later than planned.

The 54 Day Rosary Novena is beautiful beyond description. I expect the hardest part will be limiting computer/ social media which seems to take on a life of its own. A break from the various websites, forums and comment boxes will help me regain perspective.

I will not be responding, but if folks would like to share their plans, I began the thread for that purpose. Ash Wednesday is March 1st in case anyone doesn’t know. God Bless.

The wife and I will again use “Meditations for Lent” by Jacques Benigne Bossuet. Published by Sophia Institute Press. And we will follow Fr. Z’s Lenten podcasts.

Our parish is also doing Friday Stations of the Cross after Mass followed by a soup supper in the social hall.

Have a Blessed Lent. 🙂
