I should not fear sinning because it is a rule which God has placed above us, damning us forever if we should break but one, but because in some way these “laws” and “rules” are a reflection of God’s very self, in essence, the revelation of God’s essence and the law of perfection which he himself, as Perfection, is. Thus, when I break a commandment, I don’t just break a rule, but deny God who they are. At the same time, thus, that he has made himself vulnerable with his commands, he does so because he wishes for us to know him by loving him and by following him. There are no such thing as rules, only God’s revealed essence put in terms of human morality. To break a command is to deny who God is.

I was expressing, in a certain way, his reaction against those who believe in a “fundamental option,” which is the belief that you can’t sin if you deep down believe in God and love him.
