Leonard NImoy, Spock of 'Star Trek,' Dies at 83

I can’t get into the link without registering at the Times, so I can’t read the article, but I just heard the news on TV. 83 is a respectable age and he certainly lived a full life. He made the perfect Mr. Spock–deepening the character as he played him. He got the famous hand gesture when a young boy from watching his rabbi do it at his synagogue. The significance escaped him but he thought it was cool. As Catholics it symbolizes the triune God. I don’t know what it means in Jewish typology. Anyway, may he rest in peace.

Dr. Charles Rice, a former EWTN personality who was close to Mother Angelica, has also died at the age of 83. May both Mr. Nimoy and Dr. Rice rest in peace.

As big of a Star Wars nerd as I am, i’ve never been able to get into Star Trek, RIP Mr. Spock.

Actually, the first quote: “If you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains no matter how improbably, must be the truth” is a line from a Sherlock Holmes story by Sir Arthur Canon Doyle. The show’s writers often took quotes from other sources to put them in the mouths of their characters, good and bad. Just a bit of trivia for the day. 😛

Mr. Nimoy’s delivery of the lines made them sound original because he was a good actor. 👍

To which I would add Spock’s comment to his romantic rival from the episode “Amok Time”: “After a time, you may find that having is not so pleasing a thing after all as wanting.”

It’s okay! I just learned he was able to mind-meld with Shattner before he passed. They’re trying to find Sarek and arrange transportation to Vulcan to bring him back.
 
I’m hoping and praying that he, De Kelley and James Doohan are up in Heaven right now recounting stories of the good old days.

I would have thought he had mind meld with Zachary Quinto.
