Jesus told the leper not to tell anyone but the leper disobeyed Jesus.

Thoughts?

I noticed this too but I’m not smart enough to explain anything

I’d cut Mr. leper some slack. Jesus ordered him not to, but he couldn’t help but proclaim to all what God had done for him. If only we were as zealous as he was in proclaiming God’s great deeds in our own lives, and especially since we are exhorted to do so, not ordered not to as this man was.

All I can picture Christ doing is looking back at that man, shaking his head with just an amused smile on his face. I highly doubt Christ would hold this “disobedience” against the man.

How could our Lord be more specific?
He cut the Leper a very generous and compassionate healing. Adam and Eve and a whole cast of characters in the Bible all want to be Frank Sinatra and" Do it My
Way
I try to put myself in the Gospel as the unclean ,sinner,Pharasee, blind, deaf, smarter than God Devil. Guys like me have a tendency to test the Lord with the gift of Free will he gave out of Love. That Leper and Me are alike.
We want our way and don’t want to give God His Will for us all.The Leper could go to town because of Gracious Jesus.Jesus could not freely go to town because of the
Disobedience of a self centered slob like me. The Golden rule should be reciprocated to the author.

This actually happens a number of times in the Gospel. Jesus sternly warns the person he cured to keep in quiet, but in their joy they can’t help but proclaim the good news. Since a leper was forced to keep a distance from society and call out “Unclean,” now that the leper is cured how could he not tell people–hey, I’m ok now! Let me in! And the natural question would be: what happened to you to heal you?
I’m willing to forgive the joyful healed leper, and suspect Jesus does too.

I always felt guilty if this to share…some things between a man and a God is personal…ans then i think of saints that shared all…so i am a bit confused

Well, if you remember the first reading on Sunday, from Leviticus, you’ll recall that he was required to present himself to the priests, so that they could declare him no longer ‘unclean’, so that he could resume life in the community. There’s nothing in that text that suggests that their examination included the demand for an explanation.

On the other hand, when he rejoined his family, I’m sure they’d ask. His response – if he wished to obey Jesus’ command – could simply have been “I don’t know! Yesterday I was a leper, and today I’m healed!”

Do you think that was because as soon as the people knew who he REALLY was, he would have to go back to Heaven because can’t be around sin? As long as they thought he was just a person… he could stay. But it was his Resurection that showed he was truly God and he defeated death… Then he had to ascend to heaven???

I found it a bit ironic that the lepers had to stay in the periphery/outside of the “main camp”, and after the leper spread the news of the healing, Jesus couldn’t walk about town anymore and had to stay outside. Not sure why though…

Reading from another day when Jesus leaves the crowd of Pharisees:
Why does this generation seek a sign?
Amen, I say to you, no sign will be given to this generation.
Then he left them, got into the boat again,
and went off to the other shore.
I just had an image of Jesus rowing a boat and it was very…human. Or maybe He used telekinetic abilities who knows.

Psst… read just a little bit further. In the very next verse, we see, “they had forgotten to bring bread, and they had only one loaf with them in the boat.”

They. Not He, but they – that is, “Jesus and his apostles.” Jesus didn’t get in the boat alone. 😉
