Well it is now less than two months to my wedding. We just we to Pre Cana this past weekend and we got more out of it than we expected to. I was not looking forward to the section on NFP, before Pre Cana I was thinking that this was old fashioned and why would we want to do that when there is a pill that can do it for us and we can just be lazy. Well we had two wonderful presenters during the NFP section, they really opened my eyes to why God does not want us to use ABC. Until the last few months we were not chaste in our relationship, but we are now. We didn’t realize that ABC, even chemical ABC, puts a barrier between husband and wife, and we also see where this makes us closed to life not open to it. We have decided to take classes on the Creighton Model, more because of the accuracy of it, and i like to plan and chart things (I’m an engineer what can you expect). But an unexpected side effect of just deciding to do NFP is that it has made us talk about when we want children and even more surprising was that we both realized that if we get Blessed early on with a child that we would be open and happy about it. I just find it amazing how you do things that He wants and its like a light bulb explodes in your head!!

Soon to be Husband of Hilary, 5 April 2008 😃 😃 😃

Wow! Now if that’s not the Holy Spirit totally working someone over, I don’t know what is!! 👍

What a great story! I’m so happy for you both - begining your lives together, and also learning more about each other ever day.

Congrats!!!

Please also consider stopping by and joining my Catholic Bridal forum (men are welcome too!): brides.ourladyforums.com/index.php We don’t stop talking after the wedding, the forum is for growing marriages, not planning parties. 🙂

One thing we are having an issue with is that we contacted our Diocese NFP coridinators and haven’t got a response yet. We contacted them on Monday via email and phone call and nothing. We are really ready to learn and need to talk to them to find a teacher in our area. Anyone know of any Creighton teachers in the Fort Worth Texas area?

I found this resource for the Creighton method on line:

FertilityCare Center of North Texas
Fort Worth, TX 76137
Features NaProTECHNOLOGY®
Phone: 817-581-4086 Fax: 817-581-7045
e-mail: neomom1@sbcglobal.net

Hope it is helpful. My husband and I are very happy with the Creighton method. As a physician I find it to be medically sound too for whatever that is worth…even with perimenopause and breastfeeding!
Blessings for your marriage. You are off to a great start!

CONGRATS TO YOU AND ALL SOON TO BE HONEYMOONERS!😃

Congratulations! I am so happy that the NFP section made such an impact on you and your fiancee. I’m getting married soon too and we are also using Creighton. I can’t understand who’d be crazy enough to want a pill  Hope all the planning is going well and you have a beautiful wedding to start off your marriage :clapping:

Well good news, our NFP coordinator called me today and we have an appointment for our first class next week. We are so happy about it. On an interesting side note, last night we were watching Home Improvement on Nick at Night (which happens to be one of my favorite mid 90’s sitcom’s), and the theme of the episode was Tim getting a vasectomy and being goaded by Jill to get it. I thought it was interesting that this came up right after we had decided to take NFP classes. While watching the episode I was extremely uncomfortable, mainly because just watching this transpire between two fictional characters and the strife it was displaying on screen. Tim kept saying that even though he didn’t want any more kids that he wanted that option. Of course by the end of the episode he caved and got the procedure and then was talking about spontaneous intercourse around the house. I was flabbergasted that it took me until now to realize how immoral this is. Even on a family TV show that this would come up. Jill kept saying “You need to take responsibility”, but that is contrary to what it should be, it should be “We need to take responsibility” for having or not having a child. I just thought it was interesting that this episode should come on after we were committed to doing NFP. Sorry I will get off my soap box now.

You stay very firmly planted on that soap box, and don’t come down! 👍 This is the insight that so many need to hear and understand, and that you have grasped after only a small exposure to the Truth. Amazing!

This will serve you well in you marriage. 🙂

Xander,

Congrats on the wedding. You truly have come far in your journey and are growning into a wonderful Catholic Man. Stay on your soap box!

Thank you to all for the wonderful support. I had another epiphany on the way to work this morning. We want to wait around 5 years to have children, just for finnacial reasons and because we want some time to ourselves before we jump in to having kids. But we have both come to the realization that if we have children before then that we would both be happy about it. I actually am looking forward to reading to my future children, singing them to sleep (like my dad did with me), playing video games, helping with homework. If God blesses us with a child before the “5” year mark, so be it! We will be happy, I think talking about it and praying on it has really made both of us realize that we are more ready to be parents than we had thought a few months ago.

COngratulations on your upcoming marriage.
Happy to hear you have picked Creighton model, works great for irregular cycles. We use it rather sad I only found it 2 years ago…of course we are using it to achieve a pregnancy…

Contact Pope PAul VI and they will be able to advise you about CReighton NFP practioners in your area… that is what I did…

I think what you’re looking for can be found at

I went to a fabulous presentation on it a month ago, and thought it was far superior to the traditional nfps out there. More people need to get on board.

Many blessings to you and Hilary!!!:harp:

Thanks again to everyone for all of your encouragement. Hilary and I have started going back to Mass every Sunday. We could sleep in and go to Mass at 11am, but have decided to make the sacrifice to go to 9am Mass. I know to most people going to a Mass that is 2 hours earlier isn’t that big of a deal, but both of us like to sleep in on the weekends, and now we both have to get up early to go to Mass. On a separate note we have our first NFP class on Thursday and are really looking forward to it.
