Dear Brothers and Sisters,

St. Francis of Assisi like all the saints was moved by the Holy Spirit to begin every day anew. So in the same Holy Spirit, let us begin our renewal of Baptism by setting out on a Lenten journey of 33 days toward the Feast of the Incarnation, as outlined by another brother-saint, St. Louis De Montfort.

For some this may be the first time and for others, we’ve lost count of our beginnings, but no matter "Now is the acceptable time…now we begin again.

Here
is a link to our first day’s theme as we begin with a period of 12 days in which we seek to empty ourselves of the spirit of the world. This is not a “flight from the world” but rather an admission before God that we have not always been faithful to His Holy Spirit. In many little ways ( or big ways) we have taken on the ways of the world which are opposed to the spirit of Jesus and Mary.

There is a “suggested” reading at the link, but if your time is limited, I would encourage you to pray only the two prayers which St. De Monfort urges us to pray during these 12 days: The Veni Sancti Spiritus and the Ave Maris Stella. These two prayers to the Holy Spirit and Our Lady need to be prayed slowly with fervor that by God’s Grace we may “see” how we need God to give us purity of heart. We need His Grace to see and to do the Truth His Spirit comes to give us.

May this day be the best beginning we have ever made!

I’m with you on this journey, and may we all complete it in 33 days for the greater glory of God and the securing of salvation for our own souls!

Dear dshix, and tawny,

Thank you both for your encouragement and your prayers, I am about to post a new thread for “Day 2 of our 33 Day Journey”. Please let us continue to pray with and for one another. The world needs saints, and we are all called to share this holiness to which we are called, for God’s glory and the salvation of souls.
