MMs or Mysterious Moderators.
It must be a tough job. keeping up with all the threads. Are there many complaints? How many flagged posts a day average?
I have to be honest. I am used to a more transparent moderator system for forums. It does feel a little impersonal here. Decisions come from on high. Is the system deliberately aloof here? As a way of coping with the sheer magnitude of posts and threads?

Please review enforcement rule 3 in the FAQ. You can get to the FAQ by hitting the 3 horizontal bar, top right, then hitting the first entry on to left.

I truly sympathize with them, as I am a mod on a cancer forum. But, folks there are much more unified and, I must say, charitable. The same on the “right-wing gun-nut” forum I also post in.

Odd, ain’t it?

They need our grateful prayers as much as
possible and thanks be to God for these
cyber warriors, who separate the legit and
the “troll” posts for us…All in the background!!

That’s my point. I’d like to get to know who they are. I’m sure they are great, but I would feel more at home here, if I knew who they were.

True, but sometimes, a degree or two of separation is needed. There are Priests and maybe a Bishop or two who post here - but they would be inundated with PMs or even castigated if they were known.

The ideal forum would require no moderator. Moderator is also the term used to describe the substances that control a nuclear reactor and keep it safe. Moderating a wide-open field like Catholic Answers is much like the nuclear reactor, to keep it under control. Ditto here.

An AMA type of situation with him here would be absolutely amazing.

I “suspect”

Only the most insightful and spiritually gifted Bishops would be members here.

Chap-Stick, please!

CAF adopted a new moderation system with the new board. The moderators are now more anonymous and do not seem to post on the board.

All Mods will make mistakes. Sometimes it is because their sensitive settings are to high or low and sometimes it is just a plain misunderstanding. But generally I like the absence of personal abuse on CAF and the rapid elimination of trolls.

?? I wonder, too, why a Bishop should be castigated
for being a “referee” on a Catholic discussion forum.
