No. What you are saying is very clear and is contrary to well-established moral teachings of the Church. Removing a non-viable fetus by C-section is direct abortion. Always. There is no medical reason to do so. And the very slim chance of survival does not change the moral analysis. You can’t throw a child into a river on the off-chance that he might survive. You can’t remove a non-viable prenatal by C-section to save the mother’s life, as the act is ordered toward removing the prenatal from the life-sustaining support given by the mother’s uterus. What you are saying is a grave moral error.

See @Arkansan answer above.

Again… you are putting words in my mouth. I never said you have a c-section to save the mother’s life. The c-section is to attempt to save the BABY’S life!!!

Today’s technology is not what it was in the 1890s. A c-section child has a chance at living. My nephew was “not viable” and lived.

I’m saying that if they are BOTH going to die if a doctor does nothing, it’s better to have a c-section so the child can be baptized and attempt to save both lives vs letting them both die.

But the mother has to be ACTIVELY dying.

The National Catholic Bioethics Center has stated multiple times that it is licit to attempt to save a mother’s life when her life is actively in danger (not potentially in danger). Even if saving the mother has the unintended effect of the child dying.

Double effect comes into play.

God Bless
