Let's praise Catholics' contribution to science

I’m not a catholic (I’m baptized but that’s it), but one of the things that brought me to this forum is my admiration for a church that not only saved science and learning after the fall of the Roman Empire, but is the reason why we have universities. I consider it very unfair, therefore, that people are so dismissive and ignorant about this, claiming that the church has stood as the major obstacle to scientific progress throughout the ages when in fact the opposite is true. So why don’t we give it up for the Mendels, Copernicus, Roger Bacons, Georges Lemaitres and the Lamarcks of history who have contributed so much to the advancement of humanity. I hope you people will someday make it known to the world just how much good your church has done to science. God bless you all.

One is either a Catholic at heart or not Catholic.

From what I’ve seen of you, you seem pretty Catholic to me.
 
Expressing admiration for the Catholic Church does not make you a catholic, I believe. Trust me, I’m no catholic, I believe in god and have respect/love for Jesus but I’m still trying to find out who I believe he was, and I cannot become a catholic with these doubts, that would be hypocritical.
 
You’re a validly baptized Christian
You admire the Church of Christ
You believe in God
You love Jesus

Those are some of the most core components of being a Catholic - trust me, you are more Catholic than some “Catholics” I’ve met.

My friend, being a Catholic IS NOT about being confirmed and registered at a Catholic parish.

Being Catholic is a certain mindset, a disposition of the heart, and you seem pretty Catholic to me.
 
Well if you feel that way thank you! I’m currently reading the catechism of the Catholic Church with an open mind to see if I find the truth there
