I am very grateful for this thread and for all the prayers for my husband job search and for my family.

My very dear Bede, I wish I COULD give you good news, but things have gone from bad to worse, and I am almost catatonic. I’m almost tempted to ask everyone to stop praying because if this is help, I don’t want it.
I can’t take anymore, and the hospitals aren’t much help. The left hand doesn’t seem to know what the right hand is doing.
Today I am going to begin the St Andrew Christmas Novena for a miracle for my husband’s recovery. A big part of our relationship was our ability to have really good conversations about anything. Presently, and maybe permanently, that is gone. Also, he has developed an attitude towards me as if I am purposely being mean to him when I tell him I don’t understand what he just said. He refuses to admit there is anything wrong with him.
If only Our Lady would send me a couple of people in person to help me who have genuine care and concern for me.
Some hospital employees are just nasty. Especially the social workers.
I’m really in a bad way.

As for my husband, he has aphasia - an inability to communicate finding the right words and also somewhat of an inability to understand what has been said to him. Here’s an example:

Q: What did you have to eat last night?
Ans: I think I had the fifth sign of pisces.

When I further tried to question him by pointing out his answer and how it didn’t make sense, he got mad.
