“GOD” in Chinese, for Catholic it’s translated as Tianzhu (天主). Shangdi (上帝) is used by Protestants.

Pray or Prayer: Qidao (祈禱) for Catholic, Daogao (禱告) for Protestants.

Holy Spirit: Shengshen (聖神) for Catholic, Shengling (聖靈) for Protestants. Just to name a few.

Even the word Baptism, we use different terminologies…Lingxi (領洗) for Catholic, Shouxi (受洗) for Protestants.

All the books, names, places, used in the Bible are differently translated in Chinese. For Catholics, they based it on Latin, while Protestants based them on English.

So when I talk to any Christian stranger in Chinese, I can immediately distinguish if that person is a Catholic or Protestant.

I just had a chance to sit down and read your reply. Not sure why you deleted it but your post is still visible and I found it very very interesting. I think automatic translators are fun and useful but still very far from the translation capabilities of a real person. Very interesting also to see the usage of different words in Chinese for the same concept if there is a Catholic or Protestant background. Thank you for sharing it. Ps. I think the translation from Chinese to English is probably more accurate than the other way around, at least using the Google tool.
