I kinda see an over emphasis on Homosexuality and what can be done about it on this board more so than I see people creating polls or asking questions such as, what can be done about poverty and those who starve thru-out the world…especially third world countries.

So I’d like to play a “pretend game”

Lets say we can have one choice and one choice only to effect change in the world. (now please, if you cant play along, please save your, “well this cant be done because, XYZ arguments” or…“well you should of asked it another way”…um, no…I asked it the exact way I meant to…its pretend, if you wanna play along please do, but otherwise, please keep the urge to hijack this thread to yourself…I aint looking for biblical statements etc… or 2 page replies. Here are the 2 choices.

Choice #1:

Instantly eradicate the worlds poverty and hunger issues with the snap of your fingers

Choice #2:

Stop the homosexual movement dead in its tracks forevermore in regards to everything they are shooting for politically thru out the world with the snap of a finger…Sorry, conversion isnt part of this pretend game to be factored into this choice.

For the record: I am against the gay movement, but would without a seconds delay, choose Choice #1.

How would you choose?

Hmmm…that’s a tough one. Hunger and poverty aren’t costing people their eternal souls that I know of–but maybe through despair they reject God.

That being said, conversion is not a possibility, but getting rid of the promotion of homosexuality as acceptable might cause at least some people to not embrace it and to turn to the Church instead for fulfillment.

I would pick to get rid of whichever one is causing more people to lose their salvation. With the given info, I can’t determine which that would be. It also depends which is harder to stop through normal means. The harder to stop one would get the finger snap, weighed of course along with the salvation aspect.

SS,

I’m not sure what your are tyring to get us to compare, can you explain it better? I can be slow sometimes…

Thanks,

SG

How about neither? I was inclined to say poverty, but I thought if I would snap my fingers and enough food for everyone appeared, this still would not take care of what happens in most cases of starvation: people are deliberately being starved. It does not fix the fallen nature of humanity. Neither does stopping the homosexual movement in its tracks.

So we have to go the route given by God–conversion to Christ. This brings in high relief why there is an emphasis (not an over-emphasis) on the sin of homosexuality. No one is out publically banging the drum for the deliberate starving of people–they are most definately banging the drum for destroying the family through the imposition of the acceptance of sodomy.

I think I made it as easy as can be.

And when I said Issues of poverty that includes people being starved on purpose.

Seriously, why is it so hard for people to play along, and to Not read so much into anything? For the record.I aint trying to “catch anyone” or prove someones hypocrisy. Its simple, whats more pressing to YOU? The worlds starving and those in poverty or the gay movement?

And I do agree, Loss of ones salvation can very easily come about thru DESPAIR due to living and eating conditions and resources as much as if not more so than living in Sin…one group can say God has abandoned me, while another can simply abandon God. Now these arent absolutes but they do exist…just simply, what side of the coin do you land on?

Is anyone brave enough to just state what their choice is in this pretend game? I did. 👍

If you want to imply I am a coward, that is your business. But there is no such thing as pretend when it comes to clear thinking and not just walking into a false dichotomy. Namely, that if you speak out against homosexuality, that means it is more important than starvation and poverty.

I wasn’t trying to sound insulting…honest. I just had a difficult time understanding the ‘game’…I’m all for playing along. I’m just not claiming to be the smartest cookie in the jar…I just asked for a little explanation…😦

Simple. #2.
Imortal souls are more important than temporal bodies. That is the legacy of Christ’s passion.

#2

Did Christ not say, “The poor you will always have with you.” It is not sinful to be poor or hungry. In fact, is much easier, in general, for a poor man to get into heaven than a rich man.
The homosexual movement is not only an abomination as regards the perversion of natural law; it is also a grave scandal to the young, seeking to make them fall into sin.

I won’t play your game. I fail to see the relevence that it has to practical discipleship.

Each believer in Christ is called to fight the good fight for faith and the salvation of souls. How this plays out is in the vocational context and sphere of influence that God has given each person. The most important thing that Christ may call me to this day may be to speak a word of kindness to a coworker, or to exercise pateince when correcting my child, or to write that unplanned check to a charity that is impressed upon my thoughts.

It is in the minutia and moments of each day that I believe that we are to stand accountible before Christ as to how we worked out our salvation, by caring for what was entrusted to each person. It is a ‘don’t miss the forest for the trees’ phenomena–need a micro-perspective to capture the macro-perspective.

With my so called “wisdom”, the best choice would probably be to surrender the possibility. 😉

The homosexual agenda is marching at a fast pace. It along with the other culture of deathers are trying to overthrow society. Poverty does not cause damnation, but sexual perversion can. There is no solutuon for either that will completely eliminate these problems. Poverty is constantly being worked on and help given.

The assault by the “gay” movement is being addressed by a very few in this culture.

Choice #1. End poverty and hunger issues.
Thank goodness there is one reasonable person that responded to the question.

I don’t even see how that would be a tough question. Save lives or end a certain lifestyle? Come ON

It is a tough question, save lives or save souls? Come ON

Not a “lifestyle” but death to the soul. The Church was founded to save souls.

Hi guys!

It seems obvious to me that the proper choice would be option #1.

I suppose this leaves me vulnerable to the charge that this choice abandons the homosexual to everlasting damnation. But the way #2 is phrased, all one would do by choosing it would be to dissolve the political arm of the homosexual movement. Conversion is expressly not part of the scenario. That means that homosexuals would indeed continue to live in sin and as a result their souls would still be in jeopardy.

It is not only the souls of those who practice homosexual acts in question, but those they may lead astray.

How about option #3?
End the political power and cultural influence of the “culture of death”.

Even without some direct magical conversion of all those involved it would actually save more souls and more earthly lives.
