Lets Pretend for a moment

At first # 1 seemed very appealing. An end to poverty and hunger would mean China would have no more excuse for it’s vicious 1 child policy, with forced abortions, forced sterilization, etc. It would mean that people would no longer be able to push the lie in poor countries that contraception is the way to end poverty.

Then I remembered that the homosexual movement includes some very dark elements. For example, they are pushing for laws that would make speaking out against homosexual acts a hate crime. Things are already headed in that direction in Canada, and Christian students are being silenced on some American campuses. For example, a Catholic school in Canada was forced to allow a gay couple to attend its prom. A printer in Canada was forced against his conscience to print fliers for a gay pride parade (see Catholic World Report, April, essay near the back). If this continues, freedom of religion is going to be seriously infringed. Tough call, but gotta go with # 2.

Let me answer your game with another game.

Choice A) A world in which the homosexual agenda, including hate speech laws, is passed and enforced worldwide.

Choice B) A world in which hunger and poverty are erased, but all gays have to go back in the closet.

What do you think most homosexual activists would choose?

Rob's Wife:
choice #2 - that plain enough for everyone?!😛
I agree. The starving will probably not lose their immortal souls, but the practicing homos. will, if they do not repent.

If I could add a #3, it would be to eradicate materialism. I know that’s not one of the choices but it would be beneficial in several ways. People can lose their soul through materialism, by clinging to possessions and loving money more than Christ. “It’s easier for a camel to pass through a needle’s eye than for a rich man to enter Heaven.” Plus, the materialistic attitude is often what keeps people from sharing their resources with those who are less fortunate. And it keeps them from recognizing and accepting God’s greatest gift of life. Materialism at its worst values things more than people and in doing so continues the culture of death. So if I could add a third option, that’s what it would be for the salvation and sanctification of many souls, to help alleviate poverty and world hunger, and to promote the culture of life. Just my two cents. 🙂

Choice #1: End poverty and hunger now! and leave the homos alone. Just because some people think they are going to hell doesn’t mean they are; after all, none of us knows where any of us are going come the ends of our lives…

With this hands off approach, you might as well fill in the blank “leave the ______ alone”. I fail to see how this is showing compassion to someone whom you know is living in sin.

I think I made it as easy as can be.

And when I said Issues of poverty that includes people being starved on purpose.

Seriously, why is it so hard for people to play along, and to Not read so much into anything? For the record.I aint trying to “catch anyone” or prove someones hypocrisy. Its simple, whats more pressing to YOU? The worlds starving and those in poverty or the gay movement?

And I do agree, Loss of ones salvation can very easily come about thru DESPAIR due to living and eating conditions and resources as much as if not more so than living in Sin…one group can say God has abandoned me, while another can simply abandon God. Now these arent absolutes but they do exist…just simply, what side of the coin do you land on?

Is anyone brave enough to just state what their choice is in this pretend game? I did. 👍
Dear Saintly:

It’s because you’ve given everybody a false choice.

If we live the Gospel, true to the Commandments of God, and insist that others do the same, Poverty as we know it will disppear, as would this unGodly pressure for “Gay” Marraige and the acceptance of Homosexual sin (aka “The Gay Lifestyle”).

The ONLY true choice is to live the Gospel, preach and teach it, and call for others to do the same.

People aren’t playing along because you’ve given tham a false choice and one that is actually outside the teaching of the Church.

Blessings and Peace, Michael

I won’t play your game. I fail to see the relevence that it has to practical discipleship.

Each believer in Christ is called to fight the good fight for faith and the salvation of souls. How this plays out is in the vocational context and sphere of influence that God has given each person. The most important thing that Christ may call me to this day may be to speak a word of kindness to a coworker, or to exercise pateince when correcting my child, or to write that unplanned check to a charity that is impressed upon my thoughts.

It is in the minutia and moments of each day that I believe that we are to stand accountible before Christ as to how we worked out our salvation, by caring for what was entrusted to each person. It is a ‘don’t miss the forest for the trees’ phenomena–need a micro-perspective to capture the macro-perspective.
Well said, felra 👍

The choice was and is a false choice! 😦

The only real answer is to live, preach and teach the Gospel and challenge others to do the same! 😃

Praise be to Jesus Christ!

Blessings upon you and upon your household, Michael

I like to play pretend so I like this game. I like games of “What if” without everyone trying to change my “what if” options, so yay for saintly!!!

I totally understand everyone’s reasoning for picking choice 2, but I would have to pick choice 1. It’s seems to be in my nature. I’m sort of a softy for the suffering, as was Jesus, so I spoze I’m in good company.
