Let's talk about Mormonism

Well yes, scripture has to be read in the light of tradition, and circumstances in which it is written. Mormonism is not old enough to have that tradition.

So you pick and choose what you want to believe? These things were taught and believed by your church but are now thrown out when they don’t seem Christian? Its your soul that’s on the line as well as many others. So tell us what do you really believe? Be honest because lying is a mortal sin.

Is anyone listening? Mormonism is based on lies. Their leaders even counsel them to lie. Lying for the Lord is not a mortal sin. Lying is often counted to Mormons as righteousness.

I was trying to be nice to these easily offended people. It seems like each state that the lds are in they all teach something different.

I certainly am, I know that you said you’ve been a Mormon for 57 years, I have no idea how long Corning Tex has been one, I do know that he was temporarily Catholic.

I have a conviction of the truth, revealed through the scriptures and the Lord’s authorized servants, Not someone like you, who seems to believe he is God, by judging me — I am thankful you are not the Judge.

Regarding the church, it is apparent you are either a Former Mormon or Never Mormon, whose agenda is to hate the church and lie to others about what its doctrine is ---- of course folks like you are not accurate at all.

You talk about lying like it’s a bad thing. That seems ironic coming from one who is taught by his leaders to lie.

My leaders do not teach me to lie ---- the teach of course about honesty.

Again, just admit that your hate the church and you have a agenda against it (its obvious that you have no intention of leaving the church alone).

I was sort of hoping you would deny this! I’m on the road now but will provide proof a little later tonight.

I don’t troll Mormon forums. I don’t call and email other Mormons. Mormons won’t leave me alone. They call me. They email me. They send me literature. It’s constant. On the other you troll Catholic forums. It’s you who won’t leave the church alone.

I have the right to defend my church, as a individual member from whomever or whatever I choose.

I doubt Catholics here or otherwise expect me to go away ---- they have their own conviction of Catholicism regardless of anything I say.

I don’t expect you to go away. Just don’t misrepresent me when you are the one trolling.

CourtingTex, you’re welcome to stay here as long as you follow the rules and guidelines of Catholic answers forums. Jay Gunther, has something to tell us about his experience and that’s why he’s here.

That is a finite god, God becoming man, is it least somewhat plausible because there’s no reason an all powerful God shouldn’t be able to become man, but a god that has to become a god, that god is no god at all.

Getting frustrated? When have I judged you? Typical behavior from a Mormon that cant back up his own church or what it has taught (or didn’t, who knows). Do I hate your church? No. Do I like your church? No. But you still didn’t tell me what it is you believe is true about your church. If your church is the true church do you believe all that it says is true? All doctrines are correct in the D&C? Are your prophets correct in their teachings? I don’t tell people lies about your church, it does it on its own. When you have friends that were Mormons and left the church and show you all the things your church teaches, I don’t consider them lies. But proof of why I think your church is false and are a deceitful bunch. But go ahead and get mad and upset, I wont lose any sleep over it. I know what the Lord has revealed to me to be true (not a warm feeling or because it feels good). So get over yourself and think we hate you or your church. And I don’t think I’m a god by the way. There is only one God. Or is there? Do you believe Smith or any other prophet are now gods?

Will you lay down your life and all you believe for your church? Jesus told me to go out and defend His Church. So I will. Whether with my life or death, ill defend it. When your life is on the line will you deny your faith? My mind and body are ready. I have faith in God. Do you?

Since I intentionally left this topic open ended. Why is there a high number of Mormons in Idaho? I get Utah, but why Idaho?

No, actually they do. Here’s just one example from your prophet Dallin Oaks, April 2008 general conference in his talked called “Testimony”:

“Another way to seek a testimony seems astonishing when compared with the methods of obtaining other knowledge. We gain or strengthen a testimony by bearing it. Someone even suggested that some testimonies are better gained on the feet bearing them than on the knees praying for them.”

Oaks is an attorney and former judge. He knows that giving testimony to something when a person has no testimony is perjury, which is just a legal term for LYING!

But your church has a long history of lying. I’ve heard other of your prophets lie including Holland and Hinckley. Bald-faced lies right on national TV. But lying for the Lord is acceptable, right?

And I’ve always loved this whopper from Joseph Smith himself, just months before his death. At the time, your church even admits that he had between 30-40 wives:

“…What a thing it is for a man to be accused of committing adultery, and having seven wives, when I can only find one.”

Your lying adulterous founder was a good example of the LDS church’s legacy of lies.

Though Mormons are on shaky ground for adding a book, I
They added three books.

The Book of Mormon which they used to claim was translated from mysterious gold plates that nobody has ever seen, but now they say was written by Joseph Smith by putting a stone in a hat and burying his face in it and reading the words as they lit up on the stone. Said book has had over 4,000 changes including several doctrinal changes.

The Doctrine and Covenants which is a collection of alleged revelations, most of which were given to Joseph Smith. Many of these have since been changed and back dated to cover inconsistencies in Mormon history.

The Pearl of Great Price which includes the Book of Abraham which Joseph Smith claims was translated from scrolls that were later proven to be common funerary texts that had absolutely nothing to do with Abraham.
