You are angry at the church. You are experiencing unrest. He loves you. You have an honest seeking heart who loves his wife deeply. Who has a relationship with God that he values and would like to continuely come closer to. You are seeking peace and understanding

You didn’t need God to tell you that. Anyone here reading what I have posted already knew that.

So you didn’t come here to talk Mormonism. You came here to stalk me?

I don’t have to tell you what you can believe you are right I said that so you know what I believed.

Nope as soon as you are done talking I have no interest in continuing this conversation

God does not invade people’s privacy. He only makes apparent what we are willing to share

You state you are in RCIA to become a “Catholic Mormon”. What exactly is a Catholic Mormon?

Well I am Mormon by birth I want to become catholic by choice. I can not become un-Mormon anymore than I could divorce my parents. I have see. People try to do this and they become miserable. I chose to be one with myself.

True, Mormon teachings will influence your thinking on religious views, for years to come. That doesn’t mean you should hang onto false teachings, creating a new syncretic Mormon/Catholic religion.

I think there’s some confusion going on here, because I have gone out of my way on this post not to attack Mormons as people. The discussion has to do with Mormon belief, this is what I want to talk about. I would say that I’m allowed to have my opinion on it. With regards to Joseph Smith being a con man, because I remember someone mention that there’s a lot of Court records that seem to indicate he is, I’m not going to judge the man for his culpability because he’s not here to defend himself. I don’t know what he knew and what he did. I don’t believe he was really a prophet.

Just so I’m clear. You intend to convert to Catholicism and remain LDS? Which teachings do you intend to uphold for it can’t be both. You can either believe the Catholic Church is the One, Holy, Apostolic Church or you can believe in Joseph Smith and his story. There is no middle ground in beliefs here. The LDS teach the Catholic Church is an abomination. The LDS are a complete opposition to Christianity, especially Catholic Christianity.

Well, not to mention that the LDS view of God is much different than the traditional Christian view of God.

Exactly! I can see wanting to remain is good graces with family but it can’t be accomplished by trying to be both Catholic & LDS.

Yeah, I’m not sure you can be Catholic and believe things like Satan and Jesus are brothers. I mean no ill-will to Mormons, but it doesn’t really make sense to hold two conflicting positions at once. Either there is one God, or There Isn’t, either marriage is until death, or it isn’t. Either Joseph Smith is a prophet, or he isn’t. You cannot accept Joseph Smith as a prophet, and be a Catholic you cannot accept the existence of multiple gods, and be a Catholic, and I’m pretty sure that most Catholics wouldn’t say that Satan is Jesus’s brother.

RCIA is, among other things, a time of discernment. The catechumens are discerning the Truth of God’s Word, and the RCIA team is discerning the readiness of the catechumens for baptism. Pray for all our catechumens.
