Let's talk about today's readings 12/03/08

Is 25:6-10
Ps 23
Mt 15:29-37

Part of Isaiah today says, “We exult and we rejoice that He has saved us”. He has saved us from the devil and from our sins.
But some people don’t want to be saved from their sins, and they don’t believe in the devil. Is there anything else He has saved us from?

The psalm is “The Lord is My Shephard”, and I was thinking,
where are the restful waters where He leads me to revive my drooping spirit? I guess places of prayer and the mass, but is there anyplace else He leads me to revive my drooping spirit?

The gospel is the loaves and the fishes. Jesus distributed the bread to the disciples but then what happened? Their hands never got empty until they had distributed to everyone? We know that at Cana, the water got turned into wine in the jugs. But where did the extra bread get made? Was it in the disciples hands, Jesus’ hands, or the peoples hands? Was it the ground?
I do not believe it as “the miracle of sharing” as some do, but a true miracle.

Also the saint today is St. Francis Xavier, a priest who proclaimed the gospel in India and Japan. If anyone has a short
interesting thing to say about him, that would be great. If it’s long though, maybe we should have a new thread for it.

The Lord is my protector,
I need nothing else.
He gives me a place to sleep,
food and drink,
and rest when I’m tired in body and spirit.
He helps me choose ways that are right.
Even if I was in great danger,
I wouldn’t be afraid.
You are there to save me from it all.

You are preparing heaven for me,
and will come for me in the sight of all.
You have given me Baptism,
and an abudance of Sacraments.
