That is “fellowship”
As in 1 John
3 what we have seen and heard we proclaim to you also, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ.

6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth; 7 but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.

2 Corinthians
14 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with you all.

Fellowship not only among our selves but also with Jesus, the Father and the Holy Spirit. I don’t know why but I seeem to need to meditate on this concept more.

Definition:
fellowship, association, community, communion, joint participation, intercourse, the share which one has in anything, participation in, intimacy, a gift jointly contributed, a collection, a contribution, as exhibiting an embodiment and proof of fellowship

Beautiful!

But it seems to be a struggle. Doesn’t it? Even here on this forum, much more so out in the world among believers. How about we work on it more? Christ comes first, all the arguments latter.

Personalities can be abrasive sometimes but I try to remember that we are one in spirit.
Peace.

You can’t pick your (Catholic) family.

It is a struggle, I’m always reminded of Christ’s words “Those who will be first will be last”. I need to work on my humility.

Community does not exist independent of covenant.

The man and a woman become family to each other through the sacramental covenant of marriage.

We enter the community of the Catholic Church through the sacramental covenant of baptism.

We renew our koinonia or community relationship with the Catholic Church and its members though the Sacrament of the Eucharist. In the Sacrament of the Eucharist, we renew committed, covenant relationship with Christ, the Head, and with the members of the Church, Christ’s Body.

But I think we can be more inclusive of all Christians.
What is a Christian?

If I go to a “non-denominational”, “Christian” Church three weeks in a row, does that make me a Christian? If I pray a “one-time” prayer and “ask Jesus into my heart”, does that make me a Christian?

Someone may profess to be a Christian but live contrary to the profession. “Christians” can deviate from the truth and fall away. Ultimately, it is the LORD who knows that are truly his (2 Timothy 2:17-19). Ultimately, it will be the angels who separate good from bad (Matthew 13 including v.39)

A Catholic is one who has been baptized as a Catholic and entered into covenantal promises and obligations. Now, there can be faithful and unfaithful people among Catholics and among other professing Christians.

Let us all walk faithfully and we seek the fullness of the kingdom of God that is yet to come.

I grew to detest the word “fellowship” in my former church for two reasons. First off, the word was overused. Secondly, we were beaten over the head with it. Major guilt was laid on if we declined even isolated opportunities to fellowship together. I’m a very, very private person outside of this and a couple of other forums. But on CAF I find myself very much at home.

I said to God long ago; I don’t like being around people. If you have a mission of some kind for me, I hope there’s a way to do it where I can remain anonymous. A few years later the internet came along and here I am. 😉
