For the last couple days I’ve been reading posts in a thread concerning meanness and did contribute on post there as well. While I don’t consider myself mean per se I am quite judgmental and arrogant at times, often feeling the “need” to be right.
I suppose this can and does come across as being mean. In an effort to be less mean I’ll do my best to let go of having to be right all the time. If someone says or writes something I disagree with I’ll try to just keep quiet and breathe through the moment. Practice patience as it were.
This is difficult but I’m believing more and more change has to start with me.

If you master this then you are truly a saint. You’ll find greater peace. Don’t feel too bad many people won’t back down if they are right. There is a time and place for that.

And there are plenty who won’t back down even when they are spectacularly wrong.

I’m also learning that I don’t need to have the last word - not an easy goal. What I’ve been doing when tempted to add my voice to a conversation is ask myself: 1) Does what I want to say benefit to anyone (other than myself) and 2) Does keeping my thoughts/opinions to myself improve the situation or at least not feed the trolls?

This means I’m been pretty much limited here at CA to cat & food threads - but that’s OK. 😃
