If your motives are selfish then it’s a huge risk. If you really are a generous person, then it becomes the obvious thing to do.
I haven’t made the heroic act myself, but I read that in New Advent Encyclopedia. I highly doubt that anyone who makes it would do so for selfish reasons. A pure love of the holy souls and a prompting from the Holy Spirit is the only thing that can give someone the courage to make the Heroic Act.

I don’t know if it’s selfish, though, to want to be with all your friends, especially the good ones. 🙂

To explain it to a child, you could use the cup example. You have a whole bunch of cups and they’re all different shapes and sizes. All of them are filled to the brim. That’s what it’s like in Heaven: we are all entirely filled with God’s presence. Some of us can hold more and some less, but none of us are left wanting because we’re absolutely filled to the top. No one will “miss the mark” and make it to Heaven, but not get to be with God.

:angel1: Thank you for the analogy. It is very helpful. It reminds me of the verse from the ***Litany of Humility ***which states:

"That others may become holier than I, provided that I become as holy as I should - Jesus grant me the grace to desire it."
