jericho777 . . .
This passage is only talking about coming to Him and believing. No mention of Eucharist.
Bold mine.
jericho777. Why did you feel the need to ADD the word “only” here?
Why not just treat the Bread of Life discourse, the way Jesus did?
“
Only” is not found anywhere in John 6 except
JOHN 6:22 22 On the next day the people who remained on the other side of the sea saw that there had been only one boat there, and that Jesus had not entered the boat with his disciples, but that his disciples had gone away alone.
There is no context here that refers to believe the words of Jesus
ONLY.
I affirm Jesus wants us to believe in Him AND in what He teaches us.
Why don’t you just believe Jesus? And His command for you to eat the flesh and drink the blood of Jesus?
JOHN 6:51 51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven; if any one eats of this bread, he will live for ever; and the bread which I shall give for the life of the world is my flesh.”
.
One more thing.
This passage is only talking about coming to Him and believing.
Bold mine.
You cannot “come” to Jesus unless He draws you.
God makes the first move.
We NEED God’s prevenient grace.
The semi-pelagian heretics in the early Church pretended they could initiate the first move to God too.
Yes we come to Jesus, but ONLY with His grace first.
From your point, it sounds like you think you can muster up this work on your own.
But your works or your faith
on your own are not up to the task.
