The pope wasn’t talking about homosexuality in those quotes, but perversions in modern beliefs about gender.
Thank you! This is what I get out of his address as well, which I just finished reading in its entirety. The modern distortion of gender identity is what is at issue. This distortion generates a distortion in belief about the nature of the family, with same sex couples feeling that they have a “right” to raise a child. The pope rightfully points out the egotism and selfishness in this attitude. The rights of the child itself to a natural family structure with a male father and a female mother, biological or social, are subjugated to the imaginary “rights” of the same sex “parents.”

Pope Benedict makes it clear at the outset of the relevant section of his address that the issue is the family, and its destruction in the name of selfish individualism. He is certainly, however, aware of the militant homosexual agenda, and the grave danger it presents to social stability and its fundamental institution of the family.

Whether intended or not, I think his words also tangentially address the ridiculous trend we are now seeing where a tiny minority of “transgender” individuals and their cheerleaders seek to restructure society to accommodate their own confusion- e.g. biological males using female restrooms and locker rooms.:bigyikes:

That is not the issue. The issue is whether, regardless of sexual orientation, people have inherent gender, and thus an inherent position in the family structure. The point is that just because a man is attracted to another man, or on this particular point, “feels like or would prefer to be a woman,” does not make him a woman, and thus not a valid substitute for a mother.
👍👍👍

How about letting the Pope speak for himself by quoting what he actually said?
"When the freedom to be creative becomes the freedom to create oneself, then necessarily the Maker himself is denied and ultimately man too is stripped of his dignity as a creature of God, as the image of God at the core of his being. The defence of the family is about man himself. "

Direct quote from the speech- ( sorry I can’t get it to show up as a quote)

I think this is very profound, and a way of looking at the whole argument which is a revelation to me.Although he is talking specifically about the family here, it seems applicable to the LGBT situation also.

Does anyone have a link to the French Rabbi, that the Pope mentions, speech in English?
